Jawfish

Mine are in a tightly covered tank. They are very cool fish.

Love the fish....I may have to cover my tank....Andrea what is your tank covered with.? I may only have to cover the overflow

This is a 45g Hex, identical to the one Rogger has. But mine only has PC lighting and a glass cover. I put additional screening on the back by the filter. I was told, they jump through the tighest of openings....so far so good, going on 8 month.

sounds like a cool tank andrea,
do you have any fts?
there are a lot of cool things that can be kept under pc's

I'm still experimenting what exactly I can keep in there, so far mushrooms, ricordea, some zoas and Xenia. Two Jawfish, one peppermint, some snails and crabs. Two maxijet 900's and a Aquaclear modded into a fuge, that's it.

Im still not giving up on this jawfish,,,,just need to find a way to close off the top of my tank, I need something that will not inter fear with my T5

Hey Brian I've got one in my 150. He's very cool to watch. I bought plastic gutter guard at home depot and covered all the openings in the canopy.

Thanks Andy....Im going with the gutter guard

Brian, Reeflife had some small ones, not sure if they are still there, they're probably not very expensive.

Thanks "A" I will give PAt a call tomorrow

Note that whatever you use to cover the opening shall be about 1/4" or less. (I lost one jumping trough the holes of eggcrate which is 1/2"

So with all this egg-crate, what % of light does everyone expect to hit the bottom of their tanks?

Are you risking the health and well being of your corals or do you just install it at night when they are most likely to jump?

For the cost of the wasted wattage, I think I will risk my 10$ pearly jawfish. So far, mine has not threatened to jump.

If placed on the right side eggcrate will have little effect on the amount of light for PC or T5 lighting but will have the effect of diffusing it. With Metal Halide it will tend to remove some of the glittering effect.
