LED replacement question

LED replacement question

Hi gang,

I just bought a used JBJ 28 gallon advanced series, which has the 25 daylight, 4 dusk/dawn and 2 night LEDs.

One of the strips of 5 daylights is out and the 4 dusk/dawns are out.

How would I determine whether to replace the bulb(s) or the ballast(s) for these LEDs, and also, where do folks prefer to buy parts for their JBJ tanks?

Any guidance you might share would be helpful as I'm not really technical on the lighting side of things.

Thanks,

Mark

I need a new impeller to the stock Accela return pump. Where can I find one? Have not found anything online.

Im about to try an Eheim Compact 1000 to see if it fits, will also need a 5/8 to 1/2" ID connector and an inch of 5/8 tubing. Best pumps Ive used, let you know if it fits.

Didnt answer your exact question, but if it works you will be happier going this route for $30, trust me ;)

Oh nice. I used my stock return pump for my ATO and now only have a Eheim Compact 300 in its place. I've been debating between picking up the Compact 600 or the 1000. It'll be helpful to know how the 1000 fits. On board for the results.

Following along as well to see the results. how soon are we talking about here because I need to make a decision before the end of this week.

yup i just snapped my impeller shaft. also following. let us know how the Eheim compact 1000 fit.

Should have had results today, but unfortunately my LFS accidentally ordered a 300 instead of the 1000. I'm out of town for the next week, so at earliest it'll be next Sat before I give it another go. Sorry :( If someone beats me to it, let me know how it turns out!

anybody ever have bulbs/ballasts go out?

i am not happy with the output of my 9002. i decided to try the hob-1 again. i read that the T adapter controls the water level in the skimmer and prevents microbubbles. i also read that in order to prevent an overflow, the drain should be no more than 1/2" submerged. can anyone comment on this?

the water level in the body of the skimmer keeps rising and dropping. any ideas?

All the info you could possibly need in one consolidated thread:
http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2027481

Summary - don't use the T, and don't submerge the outlet or you will either get overflows or surging due to siphoning out of the outlet (like you are seeing). It should be above waterline and spill onto a foam block.

well i have been using the H.O.T magnum for a while now and my water has never looked better. i did get a small ammonia spike a few days ago so I'm watching that. i got the wrong filter sleeve for it so i have not been able to change it like i wanted.

hey ange062 have you tried those pumps yet.

thanks man. i just noticed that my intake suction was lost. my guess or understanding is that this due to the outlet being submerged. am i wrong?

Nope, I just use skimmer, reactors, and powerhead :) I have a canister on my FW planted tank though :)

Could be possible if it surges hard enough. But don't put too much thought into that, just go set it up like everyone has it in the other thread and you will be good to go :)

I think he meant have you used the Eheim Compact 1000 for a return? We're all waiting to see how it fits and works as your return pump after you teased us with some results a while back. :spin2:

only issue is my light rail. right now the hob-1 is mounted on the side of the tank. inlet and outlet are literally 2" apart in the return section. i plan on fitting some pvc to the outlet and have it shoot across to the other side of the tank to the other return. i just hope it doesn't look like crap. all bc of ecoxotic lol.

Oh yeah, good point!! My LFS STILL hasn't managed to get me one, they accidentally ordered a Compact300 the first time and I haven't had a chance to straighten it out (been travelling and working a bunch).

I actually have one in my cart at Marine Depot, if I ever get around to ordering that.... :) I'm out of Phosban, Mg tests, AA's and bunch of other crap so I guess I should get on it and finally report back to yall!

Hello all,

Just bought a JBJ 28 Nano Advanced series (89 watts of LED). Waiting on a custom stand, so it will be a few weeks before it is set up. I'm trying to decide on skimming or not skimming (I gave up skimming years ago on my 65 gallon RBTA tank).

So, what are the skimming options? Does a CPR or Remora HOB skimmer fit, or am I pretty much stuck with the recommended skimmer (the 9002?)?

Thanks,
Kevin

aquamaxx hob-1. idk if it is just my skimmer, but the 9002 decides to skim when it wants to. for the past few days mine is doing work. but prior to that time period it barely did anything.

with the hob-1 you are able to have a media basket.
