I just found this thread, and I can't wait to have the time to read it from the beginning. I just downgraded from a 57g with 20g sump to a 28g JBJ with the 105w PCs. So far, I am pretty happy, just don't care for not having the bulb selection that I would like... keep up the thread, this is great

Hey all. Anyone know if the Koralia pumps REQUIRE the wavemakers? I was going to pick one up from the interweb, but noticed that it stated that it needed the wavemaker to plug into. Can you run it just like a regular pump, or am I missing something and I need to go out and get a wavemaker? Or is the wavemaker that useful in the first place and I should get it anyway?

I am interested in this as well. Any thoughts on this folks...

I was able to see the JBJ LED upclose (Really nice and clean config) and if you can find the hood upgrade I would go with JBJ. My LFS is trying to get one for me. The nano tuner looks like something I could build. If you find a way to buy the JBJ LED hood upgrade please let me know.

The do not require the wavemaker.. In fact if they are hooked up to a wavemaker the make alot of noise coming on and off. I don't use the wavemaker. Get a MP10 when you get some extra $$. In the mean time let it rip.

x2, you will not be disappointed with the mp10. It has been one of my favorite purchases for my tank.

Does the tunze 9002 skimmer fit in the tank without any mods? What skimmer works best for this tank?

I use a 9002. When I got it I had to cut off the magnet that was attached to the skimmer to get it to fit in the center chamber in the back. I also had to cut the hood a little to get the skimmer cut to sit flat.

Karp how did you cut of the magnet holder off on the TUnzee 9002as I have the same problem.

Thanks

Here is an updated video of the tank. Enjoy!

I used a dremel with a plastic cutting wheel. I did crack the side of the skimmer a bit but I sealed it up with aquarium silicone.

So I cut off the magnet on the skimmer but could not get the skimmer in as it was to tight. Worried I would break something. Now what

Positive I have a 28gal JBJ Nano. As I sit here I think I should not try to run the power cord up the side but instead let it run towards the back of the tank.. I will try this when I get home.

Thanks

I run the cord up the side with room to spare. Send a pic of the skimmer if you can't get it in after moving the cord.

I got it to fit I just had to move the cord so it did not run up the side. Now another issue that came up is the bottom plate that holds the pump in broke so I need to find some way to hold the pump in. Any advise on that and should I bother to try to dial the skimmer in at first or just let it run as it is only making bubbles now.

Oh yeah by Saphire in my 24 broke after i dropped it so I am looking for a skimmer for that and it appears there aren't too many that fit but if I want to remove the hood I have plenty of options. $$$$

I love this hobby

looking for lighting options for my JBJ 28g. I have the quad PC in there now, and don't like the fact that both actinics are on one side and both day bulbs on the other. I don't like the color that I get with that. I would like a more true 50/50 look. Thought I would try just to replace the bulb with another quad PC, but I see now that won't be as easy as I thought. I also thought about running 2 36w pcs in there and do 1 50/50 bulb and 1 actinic bulb and do that. Anyone have any experience with this stuff as far as doing the retro light fix on these? I really would like to try the MH as well, but don't want to deal with the heat issues that I hear go along with it. Running a chiller is not something I want to do you know. I hate for all of my reef budget get used up on my electric bill.
