JBJ 28 Gallon Nano Owners Club

Hey everyone! I'm getting back into reefing again and decided to go w a JBJ 28 but I can't decide between the MH or LED version. I've been going through this thread the past couple of days but I'm only about half way through but I would like to pick up and start the tank before next semester rolls around. Can anyone point me to a comparison or chime in with their opinions? My biggest problem with the LED is that I don't know if it'll have the "shimmer"

Okay, well I decided on the LED version, but now have another question.

I have a Vortech MP20 from a previous aquarium and I was wondering if it would be okay to use in this aquarium. In one of the previous posts, someone mentioned something about vibrations causing a tank to crack?

Question hopefully someone here can answer this question. JBJ 28g nano cube 105 watt CF quad. With the stock light that it came with. Will this be good for a purple tipped sebea anenome?

I just got one for XMAS from the wife. I just know they need a crap load of light. I dont want to put it in my main tank. I have Mantis in it and I dont know if it will do anything to an anenome.

Any input would be great. I hope the cf quad will do the job.

Nope, not enough lighting. HQI or LEDS should be fine though

Hello all!! I've been out of the reefing hobby about 4 years now due too my kids :O) But, they are a little older now, youngest is in kindergarten and I'm ready to jump back in. I was looking at the JBJ 28 gallon with led, and just out of curiosity, other than inverts, corals and such, what fish do you have in there? What are your favorite nano fish?

Can anyone provide a link to me for some reading on LED use in marine aquariums? I've read mixed reviews on people who are using them. I'm curious on the general consensus.

Kevin

I don't remember if I've posted in this thread yet, but here is my JBJ 28 gallon LED nano. It's skimmerless. Just do WC's. I put a hydor reflector on the right side and both pumps are constant.

ATO question - just got my NC28 running a few days ago, have MJ1200's for the returns on the wave maker with Hydor Flo's, set at the max 6 minutes apart. Running the JBJ ATO with the Aqualifter pump. I notice that when the return pumps switch, causes the ATO to go off, just for a few seconds. With the Aqualifter we are only talking about a few drops coming in. Should I be concerned with this, maybe run the ATO on a timer where it only runs for a few hours a day?

I tried running both pumps at the same time but my media basket (InTanks) starts to over flow into the skimmer and heater chamber. I didn't try raising the water level up in the right and left return chambers though, maybe that will help. Seems like I would still get the same amount of water going into the display which in turn causes the overflow.

Seafansar, you have both of your pumps running, any problem with the flow into the media basket?

I have the stock media basket. Some of the water goes through the basket and the rest just goes over it. I'm so lazy about cleaning out the media basket anyway, that I figured it doesn't matter if all the water doesn't go through it. I just like that it holds carbon. Other than that, I just rely on WC's.

Sara, it looks fantastic! I will be ordering my 28 gallon JBJ with LED very shortly!! You said you are not using a protein skimmer, however, I plan to high a high bioload(I always do) and I was wondering if you could tell me if I could fit a remora on the back of that tank? Here are some pics from my previous nano, although it's the 24 gallon, I'm wondering if the skimmer will fit. Could you take a look and let me know?
