JBJ 28G NC - possibly faulty?

I got this tank last week and today I see a bit of silicone on the edge. Its not sprung a leak, and since its at the top of the tank, its not getting pressure. I'm concerned if this is a leak waiting to happen. I touched the silicon and its not loose, still glued on well to the tank.

Looks normal to me.

The bulge + silicon popping out is normal?? I'm not too sure.

no, it's not, i would send it back IMO.

I'd love to send it back. but its just about ending the cycle. My thoughts, since its the top of the tank, all it holds is the top rim. I shouldnt even be filling water too high for it to leak. And, I don't have the receipt for the tank so JBJ will not do a warranty for it.

I will stop by the LFS and see what they say.

Some of my all glass tanks have silicone that looks like that on the top rim, I've never had a problem in the 3+ years I've had those tanks.

hmm, well in the case of your cycle, i would keep it. But, if it was just started, i would have returned it.

It's just a little extra silicone, don't see what the big deal is. Not the cleanest look, but if anything it's better sealed. As you mentioned, it's also in a non-critical area.
