JBJ Nano Cube OR Current Aqua Pod

I had a 12 gallon Aqua Pod that I sold to a buddy and I have a 24 gallon JBJ Nano Cube that came in today crushed by the shipping company.

So, now I have to start all over again. Which one do you guys prefer? What are the advantages or disadvantages of each?
I noticed today that the Nano Cube's lighting is all on one plug, so it would be hard to use timers to control day and night cycles when I am not at home.

I know that I want a 24 gallon, but I just can't decide which one to go with.

jbj is supposedly coming out with a new tank soon. If you're thinking about going with the nano cube, i'd suggest you wait for the new one to come out.

Have you looked at the oceanic biocube 29 gallon? You'll probably have 24g for the display tank :D

I have the AP and I like it. I was in the same spot as you trying to pick between them. I ended up with the AP mostly due to the easability of light cycles. I also found it easier to find in the LFS. Though recently its all been about the Biocubes and Red Sea cube.

JBJ is releasing a 28 gallon cubewith a built in skimmer which gives slightly more volume but what I did was pick up the Current Fission skimer that neatly fits in the back of my 24.

They are pretty much the same thing except for the lighting is 2x32watts for the AP and 2x 36watts for the jbj. The dimensions are for all intensive purpses the same. 18” (L) x 19.6” (W) x 19.7” (H) for jbj and 19.75"x17"x20" for AP.

Though it was about a year ago now I think the scale tipper was the lighting cords because most other things can be modded at http://www.nanotuners.com/ if you are set on an upgrade.

Not true, the 29 is a marketing designation, not the gallons it holds. If you contact them they will tell you it's a 22-23 gallon unit.

I think the JBJ nano is 28 gallons. On their site, it says 28 gallons under the specifications.

Anyways, I currently have the 24 gallon one and think it's fine. I would wait for the 28 gallon depending on the type of coral you want to keep. The 28 gallon comes with a halide, and maintenance is a little easier, since you don't need to lift the hood to access the equipment anymore.
