JBJ Nanocube for a mantis?

Does anyone keep their mantis in a JBJ Nanocube? I'm thinking about getting one for my MantisNano that I'm planning. Seems like I read somewhere that the glass (acrylic?) is on the thin side and a mantis might crack it. I plan on keeping a small mantis, maybe a smithii or a wennerae (sp?).

Thanks

I'm doing the same as you, as long as you don't have a large peacock mantis in there, you should be fine. I'm leading toward the wennerae or smithii as well.

i have my large peacock mantis in a 12gal eclipse tank, and he has been fine. im sure the acrylic thicknesses are about the same. he has even done some hard blows to the acrylic when he was trying to catch prey and it didnt hurt the tank (but it did scare the hell out of me). you should be fine.

On the JBJ's I would be more worried about a manufacturing defect causing the glass to just crack with a temperature change...like when winter starts. My friends JBJ 24gal nanocube just cracked starting at the bend of the glass, he had to go out and buy a 55gal tank to say his livestock. So just keep your tank within a 5 degree ambient house temp or your tank is going to become a saltwater sprinkler where ever you keep your tank. I have seen 3 of the JBJ's returned and sitting at my LFS with cracks starting at the same place on the glass. I have a 12 gal at my work and I hope it doesn't crack on the weekend, but then the temp varies 2 degrees at work.

Yeah, I started reading a lot of posts about that recently. I found someone local selling a 10 gal with hood, light, filter for next to nothing. It was used for freshwater but it'll be a good enough start. The Mantis will probably cost more than I paid for the setup.
