JBJ Ocean stream?

Has anyone tried the JBJ ocean stream series of power heads with the wave option? I'm looking into trying it out for some alternate flow. I already have a couple hydor k4's but I'm looking for something to disturb the steady pattern they create, and at 100 usd for two 1600 gph pumps and the control the price is right for me. Any one with with any experience with these please chime in.

i just bought the 500 gph with wave maker not impressed at all for a 20 gal nano just my opnion

Ive got a jbj wave maker that came with the nano. Cheesy. Its still kicking but i have to f with it all the time. Definitely low end .

I had a feeling it wasn't a quality product. How long have you had yours?

3yrs? Its always had a mind of its own. It will default to both pumps on with any type of power surge. Or loss of power. It may or may jot be a big deal. It drastically changes the level in my sump.

It cuts my returns by half. Sort of a weird nano sump thing.

I just bought the 1600 gph for my 90 gallon they were on sale on marindepot for $80 not to long ago. I like mine, it gets the job done. However this is the first wave maker I ever owned so I am not spoiled by vortechs or other high end units. But for a fraction of the price I am not complaining

Yeah vortechs will probably never be a part of my system due to cost. I would just like some alternate flow as the hydors that I have, do not do well with being turned on and off so a cost effective alternative is my goal.
