JBJ tru temp no good??

i keep hearing that the JBJ TRU TEMP Heater is no good... i know a heater is very important. i like that kind of setup with the digital temp setup... but I'm not going to spend that kind of money on something that is not reliable. i mean don't get me wrong I'm willing to spend 150 on a really good heater.... but from all the reviews i have seen online it kinda makes me worried....Does anyone know a different heater but with the same setup? i know theres a lot of good people on this forum willing to share there knowledge and experience.

These heaters are utter garbage! I bought one last week and the trutemp controller errored right out of the box literally. not only that but once I finally got it to quit throwing error codes it decided that it wouldn't let me raise the temp any higher than 76.2 then about every 10 minutes it would keep going up .1 degree by itself. I literally had it on my tank for an hour and said "nope!" And but it back in the box then ordered a 300 watt eheim jäger off brs for 34 bucks. Supposedly these things are bulletproof.

On a side note I think I figured out why it wasn't working properly, and because of the shoddy build quality. I mean the 2 main cords that came out of the controller moved 2 inches up or down on there own and depending upon which way you jiggled the cord it would work as long as you held in that spot. As soon as you let go it would starting throwing error codes or going crazy like the countdown hatch clock in lost.

I would highly highly advise against getting this product. You could literally buy 5 jägers for the price of these. And I'm ok with those odds.

I must be really lucky. I have been running one for 5 years. first in my discus tank and now in my 120 gal reef. only replaced the temp probe last year.
