Jebao latest generation SW wave maker pumps

I've been using the latest generation jebao SW pumps for a few months now and I think they have fixed the issue plaguing the older models (RW,PP,WP) where the propeller shaft gets stuck or frozen on the ceramic bushing. There is a thread that shows a workaround to replace the ceramic bushing with a small piece of hose.

This is from my RW pump with the bushing stuck.

I run it in hot water for about 30 seconds to get it unstuck.

This is what the SW propeller looks like. A separate ceramic shaft goes completely through the propeller.

I think this fixes the issue with older Jebao wavemaker pumps.

U must have always had the larger pumps. I read your thread on the fix which did help a lot of people out, so thanks for that. The only pump I had that the shaft was built in to the impeler was a pp 15 I had. I have the old wp 10 & 25 & also one each of pp & rw 4 & they all had a design similar to your picture. They must have updated the larger pumps, the 15's & up to the design used on the smaller ones.

Btw, all of my issues with the jabeo pumps have been the motor. I only had the one pump with the built in impeler which is probably why I never had issues with the shaft & impeler

my pumps are all smaller models.
The one in the picture with integrated shaft is from an RW-8. I had WP (same size as RW-8) an the shaft is integrated as well.

BTW, that fix/workaround thread is not mine. I never tried that fix. I think I posted in that thread I think the proper fix is to buy a new propeller. And as far as I know, the only replacement propellers I have seen available online are ones with integrated shaft.

Anyway, I think the main point is the pumps with separate shafts will not have the stuck propeller issue.

Yea, I think that was DavidinGA that started that thread. I'm not sure why I was thinking it was u. After thinking about it my old wp 10 & all my rw & pp 4's where the ones with the seperate shaft. My old wp-25 has the built in shaft, so it was only the smallest size that always had the seperate shaft.

Was there a specific model that u had more success with. My 2 wp pumps are going on 3 years & still running strong. I have ad 3 or 4 different pp & rw pumps quit on me.

ok, I may be wrong then.
the one with separate shaft in the picture is for sw-4.

anyone got the SW-8 or larger can confirm if the shaft is integrated with prop or not?

Hi. Where do you buy the jebao pumps? I have seen them on eBay and Amazon only.

Thank

That is usually where I buy mine. Reefbreeders here in the US sold them but stopped. I think they may have started selling them again. If u go the eBay route then make sure to ask about the warranty. I wouldn't purchase from that seller unless they have atleast a 6 month warranty

That is the reason why I am hesitant to buy. Makes me wonder why BRS, Marine Depot, Premium Aquatics, etc. don't sell the pumps.

It is not the only reason. Jebao steals patents and IP. Any legit US company that has sold them has gotten cease and desist letters once/if they are discovered - plus, they want to sell the products from the legit companies that innovate before Jebao steals their IP. Reefbreeders is not really in the US... but they do usually honor their warranties.

U have a few more options of wavemakers now. When the jabeo fist came out the only other ones where $300 ecotech or tunze. They have a couple different manufacturers now that cost inbetween the two. I know I wasn't spending the $ on a ecotech when I first bought my jabeos 3 years ago. It was eighther stick with korilla or the jabeos & im glad I went with jabeo

I have a couple jabeo going on 3 years that are still running & I had a couple that only lasted 3 or 4 months. I also have a mp 40 that died after only 4 months.

What patents did they steal? Do you have a link? What does IP mean?

Thanks

I have MP10's now but want to add another powerhead. What compares to the Jebao?

Ran a WP40 the ONLY problem I had was that it was TOO strong for a 4 foot tank. I had the pump angled to the side of the tank and still had torch corals detach from the skin.
