Jebao pp-20 question

So I have a couple of pp-20s for my 150, but they're too powerful. Online it says on the lowest setting they pump 1700 litres or 450gph. Even with just one of them on the lowest setting near the top of the tank..About 20" up it's still blowing sand around on the bottom. On the jebao website it says the pp-20 is ideal for nano tanks. Sounds like a joke, lol.

I need a couple power heads that are less powerful but I don't want them to have to be necessarily on the lowest setting all the time.

Any recommendations?
Also, do you really believe on the lowest setting the pp-20 pumps 450gph? Seems higher in action.

Dimensions 72"*18"*27" dual overflows to the bottom of the tank.

Thank you!

I bought the RW8 for my 120l which going by their figures should have been ok. My tank was a sandstorm and are far more powerful than they state.

I ended up using a smaller plug for it. Mine were 24v originally so I found a 12v with the same fitting plug and used that and it halved the power. Still could only put them on level 2 or 3 but done the trick. Try it. You can get the transformer plugs cheap from eBay or probably have one hanging around your house.

While my experience isn't with the PP20 but rather the PP4 my observations are similar--way more powerful than expected. I had an Aqueon power head rated at 700GPH that I replaced with a couple PP4's (500--1000LPH or 130--260GPH each). I've got the PP4's turned all the way down and it still seems like more movement that the previous power head.

I ordered a JBWave controller that is due to arrive this week. Don't know if you've looked into it but it gives a lot more control of the Jebao pumps--slower speeds, programmable ramp up/down and dwell time for pulses, programmable from your phone (USB is another option). Great customer support too from what I've read.

Hmm, I'll have to look into that controller, i've seen it online but haven't really looked at it.

I'd like to get some smaller ones regardless, just kind of like what you said, I want them to actually be less powerful, lol. Plus these pp-20s look pretty huge, so having a few smaller ones would be nice in my opinion. Also if you get the pp-8 and smaller they no longer need that big power brick that the bigger ones come with. 👍
