Jebao WP series

Well just in case anyone is considering purchasing these ill give you my little two cents. In less than a year I've had one Jebao WP10 totally die on me. The motor doesn't spin at all. And today I had a WP25 start shorting out, was quite...shocking. Until then it had worked flawlessly. They're good pumps for the price and have good flow but they just break too soon for me. I'd spend the extra bucks on a sice, tunze, or vortech if I were you. Now I can't say how the newer Jebao series performs but just to be safe I won't be buying those either. Just glad the tank the WP25 was in had nothing in it when it decided to go.

I did buy one before where the impeller kept getting stuck if you put it on wave mode. I haven't had mine for a year yet so I guess its like the lottery .

Well if it is like the lottery remind me to never play again because I'm 0-2 hahaha, I have a vortech on my 75 and I'll be hard pressed if I ever use anything else on my other tanks I think, I love my vortech.

I have a total of 7 pumps from them and so far I've not had any issues at all, which is nice. With the prices these pumps have compared to their relative performance, there is definitely some risk of this happening.

Haha, they are what they are. I got tired of fiddling with them and eventually went with vortechs. I liked the jebaos better than the hydors, but I certainly wouldn't put them on par with Tunze or Vortech.

I have had good luck with the 40s and 60s. I did have a 40 motor block go bad after 2+ years. The cost is also very effective for experimenting with flow patterns.



There is also an important note on these pumps to never plug live power into the controller. Almost a sure fire way to fry the controller and sometimes the pump.

What's this mean? Is there another kind of power that's not live?

I've had my WP-25s for a few months now with no problems , I`ll keep my fingers crossed . Strange that you got shocked with the motor side of the pump being DC power , I wonder if it ramps up the power to 24 or 36 volts on the high side . Then again I work in the marine industry and have been zapped a few times I don't even feel it anymore , Is that a problem !?!? :wildone:

I think what he means is..... do not plug the power cord into the controller if the other end is already plugged into the wall.

First plug the end of the power cord into the controller and then plug the other end of the power cord into the outlet with "live" power.

Just my 2 cents though....

I didn't keep my arm in the tank long enough to see if I was only shocked during the pulses haha.

I have both a wp25 and a wp10, I have not had an issue with either. BUT I do know "you get what you pay for". Since the current tank I have will be upgraded in the future I went with the wp's. When I get a bigger tank I'll go for the MP's . Also I didn't know to not plug live power into the controller opps lol.

Correct. Live= plugged in.
