Jebao WP25 Information

I almost pulled the trigger on one of these the other day. Now, after reading some of the later posts, sounds like people are having issues with the controller. The knob or dimmer needs to be on full blast or it isn't working properly. Lights are blinking that shouldn't be blinking, the pump is not providing the proper wave pattern because of this. Am I understanding this right?

You really ought to either buy Tunze or Eco Tech Vortec pumps. You'll be much happier with them.

BTW, I own 1 WP40 and 4 WP25's and I'm perfectly happy. Are they PERFECT, no. Do I care... with what I saved in cost, I could care less that I needed to replace a $.50 light sensor... oh, and another member here on RC sent it to me for free!

I just got my WP25. the light sensor works fine on the new ones. in a completely dark room, it doesnt kick into full blast anymore.

Christoph, the issues that you heard are isolated as most of us who have been using the WP40 and WP25 for several months didn't experience those issues. Some issues are created by us and not related to the pump itself like the use of variable power supply or LED dimmer. The night sensor is a known issue that Jebao has warned us up front. For the price this wave making pump is the best value for the money and most of us are very happy with this product.

For a brand new product the reported issues are quite minor and not widespread. The pumps have proved to be quite reliable for over 4 months in my tanks.

I completely agree with Simon and Ron. The pump has worked flawlessly for me.
Yes I had problems with the night sensor in the beginning, but that again that was something that was warned about.

I currently don't use the night sensor because I have it connected to a Reef Angel.

When I had it connected to an LED dimmer I was running it slightly below 50% and it worked fine.

Now that it is on the Reef Angel I can take it down to 20% before it shutting off.

The issues that you stated did happen, but they were few and far between and I'm sure Tunze and Vortech have had there share of problems too, especially in the beginning.

Any serious problems have been taken care of by the majority of the sellers. Fish-Street has done an excellent job responding to their customers issues. I know some of the Group Buys have supported the pump and dealt with Jebao directly in getting replacement parts for people that had issues.

Every product is going to have it's share of problems. There is no such thing as a perfect or faultless product, and I feel Jebao has proved itself pretty well.

Yes it is a "Cheap Chinese Knockoff", but it performs very well and percentage wise there have been 1% or less of reported problems.

Thank you all for your comments. I don't get to buy new toys for my tank very often, so I guess I was just trying to be overly pleased with what a $70 pump should do. Like you all said, every product is going to have some issues. And it does sound like Fish-street is doing a good job handling all the minor problems for customers.
Time to whip out the Visa.

Thank you both for your responses. Level, do you use a dimmer? and what settings do you have it on? Thanks again....

no dimmer, the new controller comes with pretty decent abilities to ramp it up and down, i just have it set on "else" which just ramps it up and down randomly through out the day, then as lights go off, the light sensor kills the power down a little. It really performs great.

My tank is 36 x 18 x 20 and it's perfect, it works great, you shouldn't have any issues.

I have a 36x18x24 height 65gal tank, and I have a WP40 in ELSE mode at 18V pointing upwards from the back glass 10" from the bottom to the front glass and it creates a nice random flow.

I've have found benefits like been able to hide the pump with the rockwoek and been able to have a powerful pump without stirring the sand bed

For those with small tanks this could be sonething to try before underpowering the pumps

So I purchased a jebao wp25 and it is the older style without the speed control. I am now concerned about the flow since its going in to my biocube 29. Will the LED dimmer be enough to dial it down or should I get the ac adapter from fish street? I saw a video of a guy on youtube with a 34 gallon solana and he got the ac adapter from fish street and his tank has some flow even with it set at 12 volts I think

Well using the ac adapter from fish street at 12v is the same as using the LED dimmer at 50%.

You have 24v coming into the controller so either way you are cutting it in half and slowing the pump down by 50% (theoretically).

I just got a wp25. Has anyone actually connected theirs to a battery backup? I hear it can be done but never have seen anyone post pictures of their battery backup setup.

Thanks a lot for clarifying that! Im ordering the led dimmer

Here is mine, very simple:

Battery charger/maintainer
Tunze safety connector 6105.500
AGM sealed acid Battery 18AH

The power supply DC plug goes into the Tunze connector. The DC plug from the Tunze connector goes into the pump controller.

The red cables from Charger and Tunze connector go to the (+) red on battery
The Black cables from Charger and Tunze connector go to the (-) black on the battery

I tested this power backup and it gave me 30+ hours on the WP40 in ELSE mode and it was discharged about 75%. The price was around $160

The pump will function at 12V, half power.

The WP25 should last two times VS the WP40. You could use a 7AH Battery depending on the time you want to keep the pump working

Thanks so much! I am going to do this as well!

anyone measured the power drawn by WP25 in every mode? Which mode/setting has a low power consumption? Low power means low heat generated in the water.
Is this pump contributing significan heat in the water compared to like tunze 6045/6025?
