I'm using a WP40 and and WP25 in a 55 gallon.
I have them running at approximately 50% off of a Reef Angel.
I like the flow pattern of the 40, but I like the footprint of the 25.
The 40 is in front of the rock work creating flow and movement and the 25 is pointing behind the rocks to prevent any dead spots.

I suppose eventually it would happen, I have gone 6 months before cleaning and never noticed any slow down, but I am using the old 6100's which are slightly different than the 6105's drive. I usually clean them at 3 months but that that is mostly to get the Coraline off them.

My tunzes nanos 6045 and 6095 never had this problem

I wonder if you have it on W mode the motor will burn out quicker due to the continual stop and start of the motor.

The one pump (mp10) is running outside, so no matter how perfect it is, you are going to hear it unless the ambient noise is very loud, including other aquarium equipment.
The wp25 is in the tank and the water works as a noise insulator, so if it's working properly you should not hear it unless you put your ear next to the tank.

The grille seems to have smaller separation between bars in the wp25 pumps compared to vortechs and tunzes. I suggested before modding them by removing every other bar on the grilles.
That should get rid of this issue and actually increase the flow a bit.

I think what's slowing down the WP25 is actually probably slime build up in the magnet area.
My theory is that the tolerances aren't as tight as a Tunze so more brown slime build up can occur. I've noticed when I clean the pumps, I really need to clean the magnetic surfaces on the impeller and pump itself to get the performance back up to par. Using thick amounts of aquarium safe silicone grease in this area may prevent the slime build up but I'm not sure.
Does anyone know the size and flow difference between the 6055 and WP25? Since I have a full Apex anyway, I think I may eventually switch over to the Tunze pumps as it's a lot more economical if you already have an aquarium controller.

Same with mine. My return/fuge pumps get calcium buildup but not the WPs, just slime there. I dose 2-part.
Took me forever to figure out how to open them. I thought they were snap clips. I felt like a fool when I realized you just have to twist it open. Twist it counter clockwise and it will pop right off.
