Jebo 180 hang on

Hey everyone. I'm fairly new to the hobby about 3 months + I have a couple tanks and I bought them used. My small tank came with a prizm skimmer which was leaking from the side so I just bought a jebo hang on skimmer which is suppose to be good for a 180 gallons and it came with an AP1500 powerhead. I'm running it on a 29 gallon tank. The problem i'm having is that I'm getting a whole lot of micro bubbles in the water that's going back in the tank so about the left quarter of the tank has a bunch of mirco bubbles on the glass and powerhead and stuff. Is there something i can do to fix it or is it just a break a period as the skimer is brand new? Also does anyone here has experience using this skimmer and how well is/did it work for you? Thank you.

first...jebo and odyssea brand stuff is crap imo. They dont really work to great most of the time (oh, and they're the same company btw)

however, has the skimmer been on there for less than like a week? skimmers need a break in period, and during that period, they do put out a lot more microbubbles.

Yes It's only been running since yesterday afternoon. And i know they're not the best model but it's all i could afford for now and i figured that even if it runs as a quarter of the effeciency that's still 45 gallons and i'm using it on a 29 gallon tank.

ya if it works, it would be pretty good i think. Skimmers are all over rated anyways, so i liek to use them on tanks smaller than what they're rated for...in which you're definately doing lol

ive heard bad stuff about that company, but thats just me...but if its rated for that big of tank, it may work...good luck..

Give it a week to break in... don't fiddle with it too much until then. I spent hours fussing with my Super Skimmer's bubble trap, only to find that it works fine as designed once you get through the break in period.

Can't believe that no one in here uses this skimmer. I mean i know they're not great or even good but i think i should be ok with it on a 29 gallon tank. it's still puting out quite a bit of micro bubbles though.

If you still have bubbles after the break in period cover the output with a filter sock. After hours of mods and adjustments that works better than anything else. I can't comment on the jebo but I have had problems with their equipment in the past.

well i'm sure that someone else does have them...however most people dont because they just stear clear of the brand after buying one product lol. Like their lights for instance...known to stop working 3 months down the road, and known to start fires.

You get what you pay for in this hobby, thats for sure...so by getting a cheap skimmer...dont expect a whole lot out of it. Like i said...if it DOES work...then yes, it will be great on a 29 gallon probably...however, if it doesnt even work that good to begin with, it wont be good on any tank size. I'm sure there's loads of mods you can do to one of them tho.

Dont worry about the bubbles for now. It's going to do that for a week or so..does with many skimmers. But like afelder said, try that filter sock thing. Seems like a good idea to me.

I have a 180 Jebo on my 20 gal tank and it pulls out a lot of dark green skimmet. It works good for what it is and on that small of a tank. It did take about three days to break in and the micro bubbles stopped. I think that the Jebo line is good for the price, but you do get what you pay for I think I paid like $35 plus S&H for mine, But my fish are happy and I only have to do a 20% water change about once a month. And my polyps, leathers, and mushrooms are doing good as well.

cool. thank you. I'm hoping to change my 29 to a reef over the next few months as well. I have my 72 bowfront for the fowlr part of the hobby.

I had a Prizm Pro for a year or so and it is a lot better then tat jebo mine also leaked from the side until I learned how to adjust it there are 2 knobs on the top for adjustment one is a round air intake knob and the other is water lvl you need to turn the water lvl down about a 1/3 of a turn and the air one about 1/4 of a turn and try it again
