Thanks for helping me out tonight on the phone. Ideas for extending my setup are swimming around my head right now.

As far as the skimmer mod goes, I found my air pump was two ports. So I used two stones. I had to grind them down with a sander bit on my drill because they were too wide to fit in the base. I think I have the wrong type of stones though. The air bubbles are pretty big. They were just as big before I ground the stones down. There is a hell of a lot more bubbles now toh, so once it settles I'll let you know of the outcome. If you have a link to the right air stones it would help alot.

Again thanks for the help and insight.

Thanks for the link, I will buying this along with a return pump and a 48" t5 retro set :). I put two woodstones in and put a divider with flow control on the pump. I'm trying different air flow options to dial it in with what's best for my set up. Still trying to get foam as opposed to a cup of water, but it will dial in eventually :)

The best deal right now for T5s is from customaquatics.com They have the 48" two bulb TEK retro for $110. I have the TEKs and love them. Search RCfor TEK T5 and you'll hear nothing but great things about them.

You can pack 4 bulbs on your tank if you try and I would recommend that. I did that with my clam tank and it's only 12 inches wide. Good luck tuning the skimmer. You will get it eventually.

I already have my cart at custom aqua built with 4 48" t5 retros from tek :) and 4 moon lights. I over saw the name on one of your other threads. just waiting to click... I also just sold some cigars to help my new habit.

Tek's are nice and I am sure you will like them. We will have to build a hood but that won't be hard. Make sure you order 2 fans as well. You will need them.

Computer fans will work but they are DC and home electricity is AC so you will need the DC to AC converter. Not a problem though because many appliances use them. Look at the power to your CPU speakers The big square thing that plugs into the wall is the DC to AC converter. Get one on those and splice into it.
