Hes doing great so far...I really like him...he darts in and out of the rocks and crevices. He also picks / eats stuff off the rocks and sand. So far so good. !

Ugh...still haven't decided on what light to get or if to get one at all.

But on another note, I finally got a RBTA....she is pretty sweet. Of course she went to a spot that is a little far for my liking but oh well, I can at least see her and she seems to be doing great, eating and coming out a bit more which is awesome. Now if only Spike and Molly would notice her.

Here she is..

Nice bta
Just feed the fish late before lights out right over the bta. They might chase the food right into it

Hi Jen!! When I get home I will show you what I did with my lights recently that has made a huge difference ... It might be helpful to you :)

I'm literally driving home with a BTA as I type this, so it makes me happy to hear yours is doing well!! How long have you had her now?

Okay, so here's what I did with my lighting. I didn't necessarily have any issues with the watts/output, but more so the appearance of the bright white lighting on channel 1. I added a blue submersible LED light strip (on the top) from the LFS (I believe it's a Coralife). It has a bracket with suction cups and stays in place nicely. I paid $60 for this part of it. I then added 18' of LED tape lighting (from Home Depot) using the adhesive strip that comes on it and reef glue at the corners to keep it secure. It has a remote control that allows you to change the colors (any color), but I prefer the blue or purple setting. Paid $70 for the kit. So I'm in to the lighting now for $130, but the colors of my corals and fish look way better and it achieved exactly what I wanted! The only downside to doing it this was is that they are manual and aren't on the same timer as my other channels. Just another option for you to try as well :)

Ok, so this is VERY intriguing...I am going to see if i can find the blue Coralife submersible light you mentioned and also the home depot (or similar) led strip...very interesting.

Awesome, good luck! Here's a picture with the lights off so you can see how I laid out the LED tape lights (this part took me a couple tries, so I figured this might help). If you start out on the very bottom left corner of the plastic light cover, it lays out perfectly... No cutting or altering of the lights at all. Let me know if you have any questions :)

Hmmmmmm.....well there's that then. :( i think I need to just bite the bullet and upgrade.

Although these might make the tank look better to your eye, they will do nothing for growing coral.
The corals grow with the stock lighting ... Not fast though. But that's fine with me... Especially considering it's only a 32g tank :)

Hey Jen have you made a decision on the lights yet? I'm thinking about just upgrading... Have you looked into Nanobox's retro kit, or just Steve's? I think I'm leaning towards Steve's myself
