that's a 6100, not 6101. i can get a new 6101 for just a little more than 250

To be honest, the hammy 14k's gave great color IMO. Its just that they don't "perform" as well as some other options.

I am looking for a balance between performance and color. It seems that helios or radiums are the way to go depending on the ballast.


I have a question for all:

Are all HQI ballasts created the same? Do some out perform others?

Jim, the SLS and PFO ballasts are basically the same inside....
Are you asking about another brand?

Hey Jim, thanks for your opinion on the bulbs. Im not too worried about the performance on this set of bulbs. Next time I'll have to go with a different bulb its sounding like though.

I'm just curious as to what makes a hamilton HQI ballast different than say a bluewave?

Is the bluwave gonna give better performance?

Okay, got most of the equipment hooked up. I saved one valve on the manifold for acclimating new fish and hosing down the sump. the other small fitting is for my future calcium reactor.

Here is some of the LR. I'm not gonna add much more to the display. I'm planning to head up to one of the LFS with the 75-100 #'s I have and see if I can swap for some cool pieces.

When i had DE i had Hammy HQI ballast and now i have PFO.

Personally i cannot tell the diffrence between the 2. If i can remember right i think the PFO might not get as hot.


Are you going to Aquaworks or YR?

ok. Too bad it wasn't like 3 weeks ago aqualife had some awesome pieces. They have a 300 gallon that was packed with LR. But last week it was pretty low, they sold a ton.

Jim - I like how your phosban reactors are fed direct. Are they being fed from the drain or return? Do you run your reactors effluent into a filter sock?
