Joe's 190g 60x36x20 SLOW Mixed Reef Build.......

This is the new and FINAL aquascape. Im totally happy with it. Its open with the two main islands, and it doesnt look totally empty in the rear canyon. The third island I put in the rear gives it depth, IMO. Just waiting time for those manmade rocks to turn green.

So one of my 7 chromis has been MIA for about a week. Im pretty sure hes dead, I would imagine at least. How bad could it be to leave him in there if he is infact dead? I really dont want to tear apart the 190 for a small little fish. I mean my puffers pood larger than him, lol.

Don't tear your tank apart looking for him, the crabs and snails have already eaten whats left. Thats why they call it a clean up crew ;)

I really like the final aquascape btw. The island in the middle is very cool.

Thanks. I think I got that nice open look, without it looking empty, like I just didnt have enough rock to finish the tank. I bought 500+ crabs when I started this tank, so Id imagine he didnt last long, in that case lol. Im picking up a Blonde naso, purple, and sailfin tang tomorrow. So maybe after that we can see what my skimmer can do.

I picked up a Blonde Naso, Purple Tang, Sailfin, another yellow tang along with a foxface who passed away (maybe due to stress? Im not sure). So those guys sure added to the bioload of my tank! The fish I picked up were all beat up, they were all grouped together in a small tank around 60g or so. So naturally, they are going to compete for territory. Kinda a shame that they were all in such a small tank, I almost feel my tank isnt large enough for them, while being triple the size. Heres how they look today. Theyre all doing well, though I cant find my wrasse now.

The skimmer pulls out a collection cup of some semi dark green skimmate every couple days now, and I had to lower the water level significantly.

Those fish look really beat up, but hopefully you can save them - they also look like they could develop into beautiful fish. I'd suggest feeding heavy (3x/day) and doing small (10%) water changes every 2-3 days for the first couple weeks they are in there just to keep the water pristine for them. That should help them rebound.

Ive been feeding flakes in the morning, then my seafood medley mash (any random seafood at the grocery store) and mysis at night. So they do get 3 large meals, with some large water changes. I changed 50g in the last week to make sure the water is nice for them.

Did you notice that nice little blonde naso has NO pectoral fins? Its sad, and his blonde dorsal fin doesnt connect, its just spines. They are looking WAY healthier now than they did. Im seeing marked improvements already. At least Im rescuing them, rather than taking some from the ocean. These guys were undefed, and were out of light for a good 4 months also. The Yellow tang has NO color.

Im hoping theyre going to develop into their full potential. Besides, they were free. =)

The fact they lived for 4 months in those conditions is amazing in and of itself. You have some fish with some real will to live! Glad you were able to give them a better home. If you can save them, you'll develop a real bond with those fish....

Thats so sad :( how could someone do that to these beautiful fish. I hope you can get them back into shape :). About your aquascape.. I LOVE IT its better than the last time and that was good. I love the middle island a lot.. now just fill it up with SPS and watch em grow;).

So I screwed up today. Instead of siliconing baffles in my sump, I put a 10g tank inside my sump, which I used as my skimmer compartment. Well, I read that my skimmer was a little too deep, it wasnt pulling in all the air that it should have been. So I went to raise it up a bit.... to make a long story short, I BROKE THE 10G COMPARTMENT! So now I dont have any compartments and my skimmer is going to be going nuts.

So this will suck til next weekend, when I can fix it. In the mean time I cut my fingers up trying to get the glass out of the sump =\ What an idiot lol. Maybe this time I'll do it right....

Well, the yellow tang is starting to be yellow, rather than white. I cant notice any marked improvements as far as their flesh goes yet. The blonde naso has a little bit of the clearish webbing for dorsal fins, but those may have been there before. But as far as their personalities, and interaction, they are doing great. They all slowly swim back and forth together in a group, interacting very nicely with one another. Im happy with how well they all behave. It makes me a little nervous to consider throwing a powder blue in there.

Im incredibly broke, so things have just had time to mature and stabilize right now, no new additions. Id say this is the longest the tank has gone without being disturbed, and things are really shaping up nicely. Im happy with how things are going so far.

The tank is now for sale for good. Im looking to get $850 for the tank, stand, and sump. I think its about a fair price. Negotiable....

So my beautifully empty tank is being replaced. I got a steal on a 36x36x20 rimless acrylic tank, stand and sump. Its small enough to be in the front room even! I get to pick it up this weekend. A new build thread is to come, but I dont think it'll be with the big boys in the Large Tank section =(

The tank is pending sale to Steve (Jar*head). It makes me not feel to bad about getting rid of it now, at least.
