Joe's 225g Leemar build

Oh, thats good that they are up to $60k, it was considerably lower about a year ago (closer to $45k).

As of right now Im planning on doing the sump and skimmer under the tank. The next house I live in will tell, though. It wont be set up here, so only time will tell. I thnk Id like to go under tank either way though, so it doesnt take up too much more room. There is plenty of room under this tank for a nice big skimmer.

No, its not starphire. Im not sure if thats intentional, or rather because it is cheaper. Id imagine since starphire scratches more easily, it is assumed to be softer, so maybe scatter glass is stronger for a brace?

If I'm not mistaken, many builders use tempered glass for the euro. I only asked because it looks really clear (no tint) in your pic. :) Anyway, that's a good looking tank you got there.

BTW, do you know how Terry is doing?

Im not sure if its tempered, since the back corners are drilled. You can definitely see a little tint in person, though not as much as the actual viewing panes on my 60g cube, lol. Good thing the bracing isnt starphire, because thats how I sold the tank to my fiance. Shouldnt didnt see the point of CLEARER glass, lol. I did the hand test, and kind of proved the point (Proving a point was as close to an agreement as I was going to get lol)

Thanks for the compliment on the tank.

By Terry, who are you referring to? Tbone? Thats the only Terry I can recall, unless Im having a brain fart lol.

I'll have to check with the manufacturer about tempered eurobracing. I figured they drilled holes and such before the tempering process. I was also told by another former builder that it is often done.

Hey, whatever it takes to get the (in)significant other :D onboard... I'm kidding of course. :D

My wife doesn't see the big deal with having clearer glass. But I wouldn't shut up about how cool it is and I dropped "if you're gonna do it, do it right" kinda stuff. She quickly gave in.

Yeah, I meant "Tbone" Terry.

I dont know what's up with him.... his thread was the lounge of RC a year ago lol. Im sure hes still around, Ive seen him in the BK threads.

Nice tank Flip! You've got the dimensions I WISH I could have gone with but didn't have the room for. :( That's ok though I like my tank pretty well!

Anyhow, how's it coming, any updates? You will NOT be disappointed with the Alpha at all, I've got a 250 and it's a very nice! Just don't know how much longer you'll have to wait though?

By the way, I love my Leemar, it's Starphire on 3 sides and Eurobraced like yours. It's what they call a "flat polish" tank, they really did an awesome job! I priced out a Miracles and just couldn't afford it....

I'll be tagging along!

Sweet, the Leemars are a nice median between the average tank and the elite (AGE, Elos, etc) aquariums. Mine is also the flat polished, as they call it.

Im not TOO set on the equipment list, it'll probably just be the biggest skimmer I can get a good deal on lol.

No real updates, though. there probably wont be any updates until I get into a law enforcement career.

No water yet Joe! I thought it would be fully stocked now and that you would be planning your 500g upgrade :D

j/k

Rob

I had it up for sale, because I had some issues to take care of that I wasnt going to be able to afford. Well things were cheaper than I thought, and sold a couple non reef items. So it looks like the tank is staying here. Everything is always for sale, though ;)

I dont plan on any updates until around the new year. I was just starting this to get some advice and tips earlier, rather than rushing into setting it up, and doing it twice.
