Joe's reef system

D, as of now i have 2 starburst polyp frags, a ricordea frag, a hair mushroom and a rock with 2 zoa colonies on it(about 12 heads per colony). from here i want to add xenia, finger leather, hammer, torch, frogspawn, duncan, toadstools...

thats all i can think of right now, when i get home and look at more pictures and care descriptions i'll let you know. what i really need to be concentrating on is more fish, my tank has minimum activity

This is your first time?! Or just with one like this?

Either way it looks like you have got a great grasp of the hobby thus far! I love the setup. It looks very nice. What are your future lighting plans? Or do you plan on sticking with the PC's?

i remembered that i have a IceCap 440 ballast from before i got the PC for the 90g SW i had. at the time i was using T-12, i'm wondering if that ballast would give enough power to run a T-5 set up that would be more powerful than the PC i have now

Very nice tank Joe. I have a 100 gallon I'm getting ready to post my build thread. I'll send you the link when I post.

if you can go with t5 and some individual reflectors, so many option for different bulb configuration, you can make almost any color you like, kinda like fine tuning your lights to what you want and you don't get that option with pc lights. i have 5 bulbs over my 75 gallon if i run 3 12k bulbs and 2 blue actinic it is bright white with a hint of blue and i get awesome zoa and paly growth and great colors, but i switched to 2 blue actinic 1 fiji purple, 1 12k bulb and 1 pure actinic and the colors in my tank were amazing many of my corals looked like they were glowing. I like the growth so i changed to 2 12k bulbs 2 blue actinic and 1 fiji purple and back to bright white but fiji purple helps bring out reds and oranges and purple colors.

xpawn-looking forward to the link

D-thanks. i'm not sure if the 440 ballast can power enough t-5 bulbs to be better than the PC fixture i have now. so i'm thinking of ripping the PC fixture apart and using it to supplement the t-5s

my Ph has gotten up to 8.34 by the time the lights cut off but at first it would drop to 7.8 now it only drops to 7.98. when i first installed the Ph probe the reading wouldnt be higher than 7.95. and i did a w/c today but i tested the new salt mix beforehand since i switched from RC to IO.

Calcium-360, should be above 400
Magnesium-1200, should be 1300-1500
Alkalinity-2.63, should be 2.5-2.9
Salinity-1.024

i'm getting 2 frags from a fellow reefer this week. one is a gorilla nipple colony and the other is a nepthea frag. i have kalk that i was planning to start dripping but i think i will probably have to get calcium additive to get my cal. level back up before starting the kalk.

i'm not really sure if anyone is even subscribed to this thread but i'll update it just in case.

I just wanted to comment on the last picture. I seems there is no connector in the knockout you have the 12/2 romex branch circuits running thru. Those wires need protection from the metal edge of the box and need to be secured so they can't be pulled out.

and here's the result of the wall remake

wall3.jpg

the tanks overflow holes were too small (3/4" bulk heads) so i redrilled them to house 1.5" bulkheads. there was 3 holes drilled into the bottom of the tank other than the overflow, so i redrilled 2 of them and capped off one. and painted the back glass black.

i also added a subpanel box with 2 20amp dedicated lines

Thanks for the comments.

Kroc, the wires are secured on the main panel box. so if pulled either way they arent going anywhere and theres a rubber gromet where the wires come through the hole, that pic was taken before the finishings were done. thanks for looking out for me anyways.

we had a "Paws Wash" today to raise money for Angel, one of our members who owns a grooming sercice volunteered her facility. and some other members volunteered their time to wash dogs. we asked for $10 a dog, and it was a huge turn out. the line was around the building.

before each dog got washed we had their foot painted and they put their signature on the banner for Angel
