Johnson A419 & TUNZE AT5000 Chiller

The temperature probe is bad on my TUNZE AT5000 chiller so I went out and bought an external temperature controller, a Johnson A419. I thought it would be a fairly simple set-up, but it's not.

Does anyone know exactly how the controller should be set-up internally to run an aquarium chiller? I just can't figure it out.

Is there anything that has to be done to the chiller itself?

Would it be best to return this and buy something that is more straightforward?

I appreciate any and all help.

Set the chiller to lowest temp. Plug the chiller into the a419. Put the a419 probe on the water. Set the temp.

I use an stc-1000 (15$) to control my 3 small heaters (multiple smaller are better than 1 big one)

Oh just thinking about it. If the temp probe on the chiller is bad then you need a way to turn on the chiller. You need to fix that temp probe to at least read hotter than the lowest setting

That makes sense, but I don't know how to fix the probe on the chiller. When I plug the chiller into the controller, the temperature "reads" 32F. Of course, the lowest setting is 32F and I can't make the chiller read any higher.

You think a refrigeration technician might be able to help?
