They may have been stung by my Galaxea? LFS suggested I Iodine dip. ???

No new changes recently......

anything you change in your tank? how long have they been like that?

mine usually do that when i change something in the tank.. lights, etc..

usually mine have turned back to normal within a couple hours/days. however, i've also had zoas turn like this and melt away (but that was only once).

I noticed one was like this about 2 weeks ago, now, nearly all of them. nothing changed that i can think of. I'll try a dip and frag any that seem not to be infected.

i have had zoas that do that
check on them at 3 am
maybe something is munching on them. i had big copepods that decided to destroy a colony of valintine day massacres. Dip them in metafix for 5 minutes and move them to a different part of the tank

Palys are prone to this behavior, no one knows why. I simply do a water change, place them in areas of increased flow until they bounce back and the usually do.

I see this in my PE types the worst, but I've seen others do it too. My hypothesis is that something is irritating them from the bottom, so they direct their tentacles downward in that posture in an effort to sting away their problem.

Got a few that have been like that for over a week now, some melted others are still hanging on. I think it was amphipods in my case.

They can do this due to irritation, pH/Alk spikes ( drop or rise ), flow, predation or simply " Just for the hell of it " which a lot of mine do... then come back to normal after a couple days.
