what all are you putting in your filter socks.i dont kjnow if people are adding carbon or phosban instead of filter media.does anyone just run a sock with nothing in it.

No, not anymore at least. I use to have a problem of the CO2 cavitating the pump. I solved this by increasing the influent to a slow steady stream intead of a drip. I have my controller keep the PH steady in the reactor. It works flawlessly now, keeps my calcium and alk steady.
 
So what other wrasses were you planning on adding to the tank? I am adding 5 tangs and 5 wrasses to the new tank and then letting things settle down for 6 months. The tangs have been added already and should be adding the wrasses next week. I was planning on adding

Carpenter's Flasher Wrasse
Mystery Wrasse
Yellow Wrasse
Hoeven's Wrasse
Six Line Wrasse

I am assuming since they will all be added in the 2-3 inch range at the same time there shouldn't be that much of an issue. Otherwise, survival of the fittest.
 
I am not exactly sure what other wrasses I plan on getting yet but thinking about a red head or ruby fairy, Filamented Flasher, Radiant, McCosker's Flasher, Labout's Fairy, Christmas, small Checkerboard and might try a leopard wrasse. I would skip the sixline, they are far too agressive for my liking.

I guess with the six line its a hit or miss. I see you added the eggcrate to the back of the canopy and I did the same. I am assuming it's to keep the wrasses in. Is there any worry of splashing the LB reflectors or are they high enough where it is not an issue?
 
I have a leopard and a solarensis...both are nice, but I'm a sucker for the Scotts Austrailan. I will own one one day! Love the tank, gives me something to shoot for from my 90g. I am thinking a 48x48x24 cube (viewable on all four sides) or a 180g.

I don't know if this has been addressed anywhere on the multiple pages of the thread, but, I was told by Reeflo that the seals on the pump on this skimmer (I have the Orca 250) line are not ozone resistant when I inquired DIRECTLY with the manufacturer of the pump if ozone could be used with the skimmer. They plan on offering an upgrade, however. I'm supposed to be on a mailing list for it, but, haven't heard back from them since March.
 
Thanks for the compliments Fuzznutz. I have always loved cube tank especially the depth but my love for large tangs puts a ca-bash on me every getting one.

Kirk_m I am also waiting for the seals. I discontinued the use of ozone a while back because I saw no need for it at the moment. My skimmer is more than enough to keep my water pristine with the bioload currently in the tank. I plan on using a small skimmer in the sump as a ozone chamber later on.
 
A few weeks back I bout and recieved an upgrade cup for the Reeflo 200 skimmer from Reef Specialty. It really makes the skimmer look like a... Any way any have skimmer envy?

And here is the reason for the upgrade cup. With the extra amount of air the upgrade NW pulls, the stock skimmer couldn't efficiently handle it. All I can say is WOW. The craftsmanship is outstanding.

I can't wait to get it installed on the skimmer. If it works as good or better than the prototype I will be astatic. All I can say is that it appears to be perfectly balanced which should run much smoother on the Dart. Thank Mike, I think it will be worth every penny.
 
How high off the waters surface do you have those Lumen Brights? I am thinking about getting them, lumateks, or something.
