Jrich just traded to bobcats...

from hoopsworld.com

While Wright still has a lot of work to put in on his game, he possesses an incredibly intriguing skill set. Wright has a freakishly long wingspan and a very deft touch around the basket. He has a solid back-to-the-basket post-up game, and got a ton of buckets last season on tip-ins and follow dunks. While he needs to work on his face-up jumper, Wright understands his limitations and most often hung out around the hoop. In fact, Wright led the ACC in shooting accuracy, connecting on a remarkable 64.6% of his field goal attempts. He also uses his length on the defensive end of the floor, averaging nearly two blocks a game as a freshman at UNC.

However, there are certainly some question marks associated with Wright or else he would have not had lasted to the eighth spot - center prospects with his size and skill rarely slip past the first few picks. The first thing Wright's detractors will bring up is his motor. Some analysts have claimed that Wright would take plays off and fail to give 100% effort night in, night out as a freshman. Also, for a player with his length he averaged less than seven rebounds per contest last season. That is certainly an area of his game he needs to work on. In addition, there were rumors floating around NBA circles that Wright had trouble comprehending and executing some of the drills NBA teams put him through during individual workouts. Basketball IQ, or lack thereof, is something that is tough to improve upon

Mullin found a way to Dunk on Jordan like he only dreamed about during his playing days

My Guess is that this is only the start of thing KG?

yeah, that's the speculation... Nelson is coming back next year ... so I really don't think he's coming back to make the playoffs and coach/teach 3 rookies... intresting

Having slipped to the 8th spot shouldn't mean much. Scouts screw up all the time. Nellie has a decent track record when judging talent. Wright's only 19, so his ceiling's high.

Ellis is the future of this club, so Richardson wasn't in the cards long term. Golden State may have found a nice tandem for the next 10 years.

fun stuff, wright looks promising.

btw Karl, I love the avatar. I have a big 4'x3' version of the wave on my wall =)

JRich disappeared in the playoffs, and AS a big UNC fan Wright wasnt that great of a pick up either. I watched a lot of UNC games last year and he was so inconsistent. He should have definitely stayed in college to develop his game. He reminds me of a LOT of freshman UNC stars that left after their frosh years and didnt do anything at the next level.

Dude... J Rich going to the Bobcats for Wright is a steal! Plus, it opens up cap room and gives the Warriors more room to reel in the Big Man.... Rich has had knee problems, and it's a good thing to get rid of someone at their peak, plus he is not worth the $40 million he has on his contract anyway. I say it's a good move, though I did not want to see him traded, but you have to put emotions aside and look at the bigger picture. They adressed the fact that they do not have a down low presence by obtaining Wright. Good move by the Warriors, unless he blows up in their face. GOO WARRIORS.

I don't mind trading JRich but not for an unproven rookie. You think Nelson will tolerate his mistake. He's not storng enough to bang with the 4s in the West. Boozer, Duncan, Brand, Amare to name a few. Hope I'm wrong.

I rather see them try to get a proven low post threat in Garnett or O'Neal. To a lesser extent even Randolph.

Nothing would kill this Warriors team faster. The Knicks are really in for it:lol: You know, I love Isiah the player, but he basically just traded a headache for a stomach ache.

What had Randolph done that is so bad? Not being sarcastic, I just haven't heard anything really bad except being a little over weight. It could be that he's not in the right enviroment. You can't dispute his talent. He's a real low post threat with a soft touch from inside and out.

you obviously did not watch enough UNC games, Wright is not close to being a big man, he just has the height, this guy was WEAK at the low post in college. Again he reminds me of a lot of rescent UNC freshmans who left college earlier than they should have and became busts in the league.

Most of Wrights points in college came againt weak competition, fast break lay ups and dunks, alley oops, but most were not due to posting anyone up and working the paint. In fact he didnt even show up in the semi finals vs Georgetown. THere best low post and highly touted as a freshman, Mr Hansbrough stayed in school, he was there best post last season in fact Tyler accomplished more than Oden did as freshmens in college he just doesnt have a great guard to play with where as Oden had the best guard in the draft. He will be top 2 big men coming out next season if he goes to the draft.

Wright is a young dude. Who's probably still growing. Who here thought Dwight Howard would be the monster he is now after being drafted as a skinny high school player? Most of Wright's points at UNC did come off breaks. Exactly how the Warriors play. I'm excited and sad for the loss of a loyal player as J-Rich.

He's no Stephen Jackson off the court, but I knew the second when Portland won the top pick, that Randolph was going to get shipped.

Aside from the organizations movement towards good citizenship, Zach would have been a terrible influence on Oden, on the court. Similar to the way the Bulls shipped out Gervin when MJ arrived, they want to surround them with team players with a winning attitude. Like Gervin, Randolph's a talented player that can put up big numbers on a weak club and spells team with an 'I'.

BIG difference in their games! Dwight Howard is a POST, PAINT big man. Not Wright. EVen when Howard was drafted he still was much bigger than Wright. Ohh and I watched about 75% of UNC games this past season. I think the biggest plus for this trade was how much $$$ the Warriors will save.

Dwight Howard when he was introduced into the league had a weak post presence Nellie brought him along slow and taught him how to play. They don't play the half court offense anyway, so he can develop his post moves as the season develops. The will run all day, and this will show off his talent. Plus, they saved money, and were able to put more pieces to the puzzle. The Warriors are not going to get big during this offseason, better get rid of Nellie before you even start thinking about that. As well, it is easier to dump a player at his prime than when he is at the end of his cycle. It's hard to see Rich go, but you have to cut your loses, NUFF SAID.

I hate to see J-Rich go. He was my favorite Warrior for the last 6 years when they were on the playoff drought. He came to play everyday and was the heart & soul of the team. I believe in Mully and Nellie to make the right decision (kinda like Billy Beane) and for them to make a bigger deal. Hopefully KG, but more likely someone like Rashard Lewis or Verajo (sp?). As long as we don't lose too many core players from last year, we should make it to the playoffs again. As a longtime Warrior fan, that is all I ask. Good luck J-Rich, I'll be rooting for him on the Bobcats, but not against the W's.
