Reefing On My Mind
Team RC
So the July Meeting is supposed to be at my house... :) Or at least that was what I was informed of last meeting... ;) As the schedule goes, it is supposed to be July 19th... Figure about a 12:00 starting time...

I'm up for any meeting topics... Just LMK what you all want to hear about...

Still trying to figure out what the main course is going to be... I guess I need to make another trip to Sam's Club and I'll post later... :D

Randy,
Since the theme of last month's meeting was"What's wrong with my reef" how about "what's right with my reef"?
You have said that many tanks in our club are stable, have the correct parameters, etc...
What about how I keep my tanks stable. within the correct parameters etc..,
Just an idea.
Garry

I personally find it difficult to provide constructive feedback to people who are having problems without seeing their setups first-hand. I can generalize, but there's no substitute for people learning by doing or witnessing certain tests, procedures, husbandry, etc. directly. Also, there are so many ways to be successful that I doubt you'd find any reefers in complete agreement as to how to maintain a stable tank. It truly requires a bit of research and a lot of trial and error, complete with sometimes drastic setbacks, to achieve reefing nirvana.

That having been said, I do like the idea of a roundtable discussion of what different people do that works for them. It wouldn't need to be a formal presentation per se, but a group of hobbyists, some successful, some with problems, discussing what works and hasn't worked, past or present, for them. That type of discussion will open up a whole bunch of follow-on topics which could go on for hours. Good idea Garry!

Dave

Sounds good to me... :)

I'll go over what has worked and not worked for me... I'm all about tinkering with my tanks... So I've tried a bunch of stuff... lol ;)

The July meeting is in about 1.5 weeks. Do we have a topic -- "what I did to my tank and how it seems to have worked or how it did not"? Sounds ok to me. What about food?

Randy, what did you find at Sams?

Eddie

I know I will have food... What kind it will be is still up in the air... I have been really busy with school, work, and farm stuff... I haven't yet made it to Sam's Club... I was thnking there might not be much of a turnout since this thread has all but died... I don't really want to buy a bunch of food and have it go uneaten... I was going to bump this thread up this weekend to try and get a head count...

Who all thinks they'll make it???

Eddie~ I think the topic was decided to be, "The things that made my aquarium a success."

Head count. Good idea. I would hate for you to go through the trouble that Dana and Richard did and have the same a sparse turnout.

I plan to be there. Who else?

Thanks, Randy for hosting.

Eddie

Jeff PMed me earlier and said he was going to be here... :D

Glad you can make it Garry... ;)

Ok...I'm out. I won't be there. I've got several people in town for a big show (Ska Weekend) that starts at 1pm that day.

Sorry...sucks.

I'll be in town. It's about a 50/50 chance I'll be able to make it, though, so count me down as 3/4 [ = 1/2 * (1 adult + 1 child to make it difficult for you to use your usual kicking colorful metephors) ].

I'll be there.

I've started working on my 105g reef at the house (FINALLY!...no water yet, but all equipment is done...), so I'll be listening closely :)

I'll try to attend and join the discussion. I really want to see Randy's tanks, but have trips to Korea and Denver planned this summer, so availability will depend on family activities. If anyone wants frags, LMK, and I can bring them along.

Dave

Tanks don't look the best right now... They're overflowing with coral... I'm getting ready for the transition of tanks... But thats ok... It will suffice... ;)

Going to Sam's Club tomorrow!!!!! :D

Well, Ashley has spoken, and it appears we will be making Pot Roast... :D Sides are yet to be determined...
