July MTRC Meeting

I am looking forward to the meeting but, not sure how long I can stay. We have a show that night in Murfreesboro at Mark and Pats Handlebar. I'll be bringing a few frags to swap ( xenia, purple mushrooms and some green star polyps ) as of right now. Look forward to seeing everyone there. If anyone would like to come see us play that night we would love to have you. Check out our web site. www.commonstrangersband.com

I'll do my best. I have been looking online at some mushrooms. Im telling you the only thing higher than gas is Ricordea mushrooms good grief !!! I saw one rock that had five super orange shrooms ( amazing color) on it. How much ??? Only $199.00 Maybe someone will have pity on me someday and I'll get some. Laugh Anyone else bringing any frags to swap ??? I will be taking some new pics of the tank soon and the frags I will be bringing with me.

Orange rics are pretty common, so $199 for 5 is robbery :eek1:

The Critter and Emerald Bay get them in fairly frequently.

yeah, AC has them for $20-25, but compared to PP in Clarksville, 5 for $199 is dead on, they are usually $40 each in Clarksville.

Rics are generally not really cheap, but $200 for 5 oranges seems like a gouge for sure. Its a shame to see prices like that because Rics are probably one of the best starter corals in my opinion (great color and pretty darn easy to care for), but they are out of a lot of beginners price ranges. The frag tank at the Critter has been riddled with relatively cheap rics if you can't find a local reefer with them.

If you talk with Moriah (mamagoose45) at the meeting, she might be willing to part with one of hers (but I am certainly not speaking for her or her tank)...

Anyone coming from LaVergne or Smyrna that might want to carpool??

The Mboro van can make a stop if you want to come with us? We are flexible with pickup arrangements as I wouldn't mind stopping by and seeing your tank.

That would be nice. Hopefully by then I will have the stand for the 58 gallon finished and set that tank up so somoene can make sure I got it all put back together correctly.

I would be willing to share gas $ too... So put me down for a spot in the carpool for now. :-)

So this appears to be the count so far...

Jack
Chuck

Brandon if he gets out of the lake in time...

Anyone else planning on swinging by??

Can you tell us anymore about the homemade rootbeer!!:bum:

I can tell you that at the last meeting at thier house, the rootbeer was awesome. In other words "Your Gonna Like It"!

Norman

Please recalculate the head count. I found that I really can't come. I have to be in Chicago for a wedding. Forgot. :(

Thanks for all of the RSVP's. On the rootbeer, we will try very hard to get some. Our plan was to get everything to make it tonight giving us a few days to force carbonate it. That was already cutting it kind of close...

Then, we noticed one of our cats (Jack... the big, goofy, and lovable brown tabby) acting funny with his litter box routine, so we had to take him to the vet instead. Now, tomorrow morning we get to take him back to the vet for surgery (bladder stones)... which puts our pet fund into a deficit and means no more reef purchases for a couple months :( He's lucky we love him.

So... we plan to still make the rootbeer tomorrow night and with some major shaking and a little "extra" power from the CO2 bottle we can probably get it going ok... but the carbonation level may not be ideal. The pressurize and shake method is slightly less predictable...

Sorry to hear about Jack the Cat. Hope he feels better soon!

And thanks for still attempting the root beer! :)

Brandon

Very sorry about your cat Jack. I have one english and one french bulldog and love them both dearly. My french bulldog had back surgery about 4 years ago. I can feel for you when you have to cut back on the purchases couldn't believe I paid that much but, when you love animals you'll do it takes. Wish him the best on his recovery.
