Jumping wrasse

Ok, so I couldn't find my new leopard wrasse the other day, so I got to looking for him. I had an issue with my yellow corris wrasse about a week ago ending up in the filter sock in my sump, so I looked there first and he wasn't there. Since I can see the bottom of my tank i looked up and sure enough, he's in the overflow. Now, the overflow is in the corner, and my tank is in a corner, so it's impossible for me to get him out. Will he eventually jump back over into the display? Or should i expect to find him in my sock in a couple days? I don't even know how the wrasses are making it into the overflow, it's mostly covered and they would have to jump over through a spot that less than an inch wide. Thanks!

that's very common thing for wrasse to do. if there is any opening what so ever, they seem to find a way through it. With your overflow in the corner of the tank, which is in the corner of the room, I see two options available to you. First one, disconnect the overflow plumbing and drain water/fish into a bucket from underneath. other option would be to get some sort of siphon hose into the overflow from the top and try siphoning fish and water out that way. if overflow was more accessible, lots of people on here have had good luck filling the overflow with marbles allowing for water displacement to bring the fish to the top and then you could scoop him out.

I had a wrasse in a corner flow which drained from the bottom. It took a few times but he finally sucked through the drain hole and into a large net below. I had to refill the corner a few times bevause he would swim against current. It can be a helpless feeling if you can't reach a fish in your overflow. It took me an hour almost.
