Jumping Yellow Watchman Gobies?

I would like to add a yellow watchman goby to my new reef tank and I was reading up on them. Liveaquaria.com says that they should be kept in an aquarium that can be sealed (for lack of a better term).

I have an orbit system on my open tank, thus I can't seal it off. Or can I? Could I get a reptile lid made of screen? Has anyone else had a problem with yellow watchman gobies jumping ship?

All fish can jump but some do more than others.

Ive had a hippo tang jump out after 8 yrs in my 150, clowns, blennys, jawfish (known to jump), angel etc. lol and this was just in an open crack in the tank not the whole top open.

What you can do is get eggcrate (its plastic squares used as a light diffuser sold at places like home depot) and put that on top the tank to keep fish from jumping.

I did have a yellow watchman once for I dunno 8 yrs or so and never saw it try to jump but my lights cover most of my tank. Possibly they are like jawfish and really try to jump when you first get them before they dig a hole on the sand to live.

Not sure what tank you are refering to but you can also put up a 'fence' around the edges of the tank. This minimises light loss and if they do jump out they flail around on the edge of the tank and fall back in.
