June 2008 nTOTM: Entries Needed!

I think it's up to the ToTM winner to set the next specification like tank volume, etc etc. So it can vary from month to month. Sometimes, it will be 40g and under, other times, it will say 10g and under. This will give the little tanks a chance to win too since most likely they won't have SPS or the same type of equipment available to other nanoreefers.

BTW, I'm digging the 12gallon with the stock lights. Nice and mature naturally.

Electrobes, tried to PM you back but your inbox is full.

Since I won last month, I was told that I was to setup the entry thread this month. In my opinion 30g isn't really even a nano, but under 34g was the rule when I entered last month. In my opinion nanos are tanks under 20 gals. I wouldn't even consider a 20g a nano really. Remember, "nano" in the prefix term is really really really small. I thought 34g was kind of an obsure number, didn't really know why it was picked, so I dropped it to 30 (the closest round number, no other reason). I wasn't gonna go up to 40g, to me that is not even close to a nano. I guess 34 was picked to include RSM owners. Again, everyone has their own opinion on what a nano size is. I mean lets be honest, everyone's tank could be called a nano compared to the ocean, you have to draw the line somewhere. I think a poll of what "nano" means should be started, would be interested. Remember, I didn't ask to be in charge this month, I was told it was my responsibility since I won, didn't mean to make waves. But it seems most people think 34g should be allowed, so the size limit for this month has been moved back up to 34g.

EDIT: Tank must be less than or equal to 34g in volume.

When I started this contest back in November 06 I kept the entries to 30g or less. Since then some people have added their own unique entry rules every month. We have had chances for tanks from 40g to 10g or less be the stipulation for that months contest, totally up to the person who gets to make that months thread.

Last month 40g tanks were allowed, this month they are not. Keep an eye out and you will soon probably see another chance to enter your tank.

Also where are the rest of the entries....If I make Top 5 that will be pathetic :)

Oh cool, I had no idea it worked like that! I sincerely thought the rules you gave were the set standard for nTOTM, and truth be told I think that ever-changing set of rules is a great way to run this contest. My bad and carry on :D

I too am curious.. there are a ton of people that call this thread/forum home.. where are you guys? :)

Ok i see now. Congrats on totm! sjfishguy you got my vote i thought your tank was very cool. Sorry to start a fuss about this. I just wasnt sure how it worked. The idea of a nano has jumped alot. I have a 46 bowfront and some would say its a nano but what do i know. The red sea max is accaualy a good size tank tho. Anyway i just felt any of the all in ones were considered nanos. There was a thread poll on what is really a nano. 10 or less 20 or less 30 or less 40 or other and most did vote for 30 or less.

elsefailed has a 34g so how is that under 30???? Not complaining but if your gonna allow him to compete let electrobes submit his 40g.

I wasn't too clear on the whole thing either or that I even had some latitude with the rules. So here it is for this month, not changing it again:

EDIT: Tank must be 30g or under to enter this month.

Hope this solves all the confusion for now. And lets see some tanks! Only a week left and not too many entries yet... Let's go!

But the RSM's display is 29, isn't it? That would make it allowed.
