Just a quick pic of my red People Eaters. i think these are my favorite zoanthids i own. I'm pretty sure they are true RPEs, what do you guys think?

the term "real" got coined to seperate the two morphs, and nothing more imo. Also because "false" RPEs somewhat turn brown under certain lights. the OP's pic shows what's considered the "true" RPE. common brown PEs are often called RPEs as well. the differences between the two morphs are pretty distinguishable.

They are beautiful! they look huge . How large are the individual polyps.
Not to change the subject but what are the other zoa's in the corner? They look like what I have . I don't know if they are watermelon or eagle eyes.

thanks for the kind words. The individual polyps are probably about the size of a dime. As for what type thos ones in the corner are, i'm not sure. I think they might be a type called "sunflowers" because they are more red than orange compare to whammin/eagle. I'm not sure though. Here is a better pic.

You can't, because until you get them in your tank, in your water, with your lights, in the spot you place them, with your flow, and your animals, at your elevation above sea level, and your specific gravity, and ... (getting the idea here?) you have NO IDEA what color they will be. Oh, and by the way, half of the people you meet would argue over the color of crayons fresh out of the box.

So in a nutshell, buy nice zoanthids and hope they stay the color you want them to be. If they do, rejoice in your nice corals, and when someone asks you if they are TRUE eraser-shaped hunk of goo red-nipple-heads, you can say "sure they are."

Ah, there goes my naming corals by their color makes me nuts quota for the week. I feel so much better.
