Just a reminder for what memorial day is about...

Just a reminder, bbq, days off, sales (I got a great saw at a great deal at lowes on friday) are nice. but not what this day is really about. Take a moment to honor the war dead, their sacrifice and the sacrifices of their families for having secure shores and being fat and happy. Be it those that fought to kick the british out of our country or the soldier that fought to keep a checkpoint secure to allow civilians to travel safely. Each one died...sometimes for reasons that dont make sense...but their willingness to do it is the part that we must make sure to honor.

I have a buddy who lost his only son to wounds suffered in Iraq. It was just a week or so past 2 years now. Johnny is now resting in Arlington. That makes the day personal.
I don't believe in the nobility of war or glory in death... But freedom isn't free... and it's good to hear that there are those who would (no mater what politics they adhere to) take a moment to honor those who paid the ultimate price.
