Just an observation

I don't have a question - just something fun that happened in my tank. I've had a maroon clownfish (yes I know, wish I hadn't done that - but oh well, he's a pretty good citizen, for now anyways) in my tank for about 2 1/2 years or so and I've never had luck with nems to host him. He's always stayed in the lower left corner of the tank - that was his castle and he chased anyone away that came near. Well recently I was given a nice big piece of live rock with 2 BTA's attached to it. I've read all sorts of stories about peoples various clowns and things they've tried to get a nem to host them so thought it might take a while - but I'm not kidding the very next morning - that clown was swimming in and out of BOTH nems and hasn't left their side since!! It's funny he seems like a fish on Christmas morning!!! LOL! He just seems so darn happy now. I just hope I can keep the nem alive and he doesn't "love" it to death.

BTA is maroons only natural host species. No surprise at all that it never was hosted by non-natural anemone species. If it didn't go to a BTA though, that would be a surprise. When clownfish don't go to anemones, it's safe to say in almost in every case it's because the anemone species in the tank is not a natural host.

Congrats! Its an awesome feeling to see a clown hosted by a nem for the first time.
