Just another dead jaebo 12000 return pump..

I run the 8000 on my tank for about 6 months but looking to buy a vectra when I have money burning a hole in my wallet hopefully before this one breaks

What died? I've had good luck with them, but I have backups available.
Wondering if they are worth repairing, depending on the problem.

I have 3 DC12000 that are almost 3 years old and all 3 run a full speed 24/7. I do have a back up sitting on the shelf because I had the same kind of experience (pump failures) with the first gen of Jebao wave makers.

I do have more than normal head pressure so I bought the dct15000. The pumps are sealed from my quick glance but I did take off the cover to clean it out. I think im going to take it apart and just see what inside. Should be fun

looks like im willing to take another chance lol but I will have a backup. Using a harbor freight pond pump for the time being lol..

Not a pump, but my Jebao wavemaker WP40 just went out and I had used it for 30 days. Not happy at all. Tried to replace the power supply but it looks like something happened inside the motor. I can feel the pulse, but it doesn't spin anymore. Into that trash it goes.

The ceramic bushings on the prop shaft can seize. Try replacing them with some airline tubing

Just curious, have you tried soaking the impeller in vinegar? My DCT locked up a few weeks ago from kalk precip. I thought it was dne, but a vinegar bath cleared the impeller right up.

Jebao. . . Never again!

Jebao. . . Never again!

I just tossed 2 Jebao pumps and 3 Jebao powerheads. . . just got tired of trying to keep them running, especially since I've had 2 LifeGuard Quiet Ones that ran for years without ever being cleaned at all, and actually they've NEVER not started. . . and 2 Hydor Koralia powerheads that didn't stop for years without frequent cleaning. Needless to say, I'm switching back.

I took out the four screws that hold the front case to the pump off and cleaned it but with just hot water. I'll try and soak and see what happens. cant hurt at this point...

On mine, the impeller is inside of a mounting ring of sorts that has a bushing between the impeller and the ring. This should spin freely, but when mine was clogged, it was very difficult to spin and sounded crunchy. A 45 minute soak with occasional turns of the impeller fixed it up.

This is a great point..there is the bushing that jrp mentions and the one at the bottom of the pump that the impeller goes into.

So I should just soak it? I saw the bushing all the way down the hole where the shaft fits in. gotta get some vinegar tonight then..

Just curious, is the thing just stopped with...I think it was the first 3 LEDs on the controller flashing?

power to controller was fine. when I would hit the feed button to go into feed mode and then hit it again to go back to pumping, it would try to spin but would stop. I didn't feel the motor pulsing at all thou..

I hope the DCT line is better.. I bought it then I saw that the DCS pumps are out now.. oh well..

I could hear mine try to spin up, bind immediately, then give up and start flashing. At least I think it flashed. It's been a few weeks. Definitely try the vinegar anyway. If nothing else, it has a thousand uses in reefing. Always good to have on hand.

very true, thanks for the help here. Im gonna give it a go. My powerheads are close to needing a good cleaning anyways..

They certainly aren't known for quality or longevity. Will get you by in a emergency but nothing I would ever want to depend on.

I'm currently running a DC12000 as my RP, with another one as back up that now powers my Algae turf scrubber!

I've been thinking about gong for that 15000 as well!
