I had a clown that was from all outward appearance swimming and eating fine. Just after feeding and I was watching,, it started zipping every which way, Up and down, side to side,at break neck speed. After a min. of this it stops and just floats down to the bottom of the tank.
Has anyone seen this happen in another fish before?
I lost one other fish last month that looked like it had a razor cut in it's side. A tang wound I was thinking.
All else looks good.

It did come across at first to me that maybe it was something in the food ? That is strange it happened just after being fed .

I have noticed that in the last 3 months, it shimmy as if it were having a seizure at times but always went on its merry way.

When would it be ok to add a new clown for the single lady?

that shimmy was it being submissive. you can add another clown after you qt a new one.

Ladies don't actually like clowns...from what I understand.

make sure you water is oxygenated. Put a bubbler in your sump. The seizures are its mating dance.

The tank is well oxygenated and they have been mated almost from the get go. A a matter of fact, there was a strong display of confusion and searching when the clown fell dead and was then removed. This was actually saddening for me to watch.
