Today i just purchased an angler fish at a LFS(ABC). I was waondering if anyone has and pointers to help me out with this fish. It is goin into my 14 gallon biocube and is being acclimated as we speak. I will post pics up either tonight, or tomorrow when it is in the tank. Any pointers and tips would be great! THANKS! :fish2::reading::spin3:

Love anglers. If only they were reef safe. Post some pics once he's acclimated.
I've never kept an angler before but the best food for them is live food. They can sometimes be picky eaters.

Ill def put some pics up and i was going to feed him silversides...hes going ion my biocube so i am going to put corals in it(mostly just zoas and mushrooms).

they are great little fish. I got one a few years ago from ABC as well. I fed him one ghost shrimp every 2 to 3 days. I started giving it live ones then put the live ones on a spiedie secure then put dead krill on the secure. Then I was able to put silver sides on the secure to very the diet.

IDK about 20g I had mine in a 20 and then a 10g. In the 20 he never traveled off the rocks which were in maybe the area of 8 gallon tank or so.

yea he'll be great. The only reason they aren't reef safe would be cause they eat reef fish. I made a ricordia garden in my tank with him. And i kept him fed well so I actually had sexy shrimp in the ricordia that he surprisingly never ate.

Wow he looks fantastic! Once he is eating frozen foods it will be easier to give him dietary supplements. I used to soak shrimp in garlic and a few vitamins for my Volitan and he was always super healthy.

ABC said they had him eating silversides so im going to try that first but if that dosnt work ill do shrimp and other foods.

Yeah fatrip im going to def be doing a mushroom garden or a zoa garden in the tank ive been wanting to do mixed mushrooms in my tank!:spin2:

angler/frogfish (Antennarius sp.). Looks like to me anyway. Same body shape. I think what people know as frogfish are actually just a small species or young angler fish.
