Aquascape Destroyer
Hello, I just received my two new MP40Ws and battery backup from SoCal Tropical Fish. Everything was shipped and sealed nicely, with no damage to the box. When I opened one of the MP40s to check it out, I found this:

It looks like the outside jacket is separated from the grommet, although I am not sure if this is supposed to be one or two pieces. It looks like the wires are intact though. I am a bit disappointed in the initial quality, as this was factory sealed brand new. Here is the serial of the unit:

I am wondering what I should do? If it is just a two piece design, and the wire just needs to be pushed into a compression fitting by first opening the controller case, should I attempt to do this? I am not sure whether to contact the reseller or manufacturer, so please let me know how to proceed. Thank you.

Hello Bryman-

Sometimes that can happen during the jostle of shipment. Just slide the cable back through the grommet, you will not need to open the case. If for some reason you are having difficulties, the case can be easily pried open by using a razor blade or thin screw driver below each clip.

This won't affect your pump at all and if it does we'll take care of you. I apologize for the inconvenience.

I couldn't get the wire to fit back into the grommet so I opened the case as suggested. This is easily accomplished by using a small flathead on the bottom of the controller in the slot, and pressing towards the center of the controller while pulling the two pieces apart with your hands. Do one side at a time. Here's what it looked like when I opened it:

I just disconnected the molex connector, and slid the grommet down over the wire jacket. It fits snugly and probably just slid out in shipping like you said. Then you just reconnect the molex, place the grommet in the case so that it is sandwiched in the enclosure and put the lid back on until it clicks. Here's the finished product:

It took me all of 2 minutes. Thanks for the quick response and excellent support!
