Just found a baby mantis.

As some of you know I am cycling 2 tanks right now and one is for an N Wennarae and today while doing my water changes I found what appears to be (90% sure) a baby mantis about 1/4 inch in length. Whats the chances of this thing surviving in my 5g through the cycle? I think i screwed up my chances though cause I could have put him in a small cup or something like that but I just tossed him back in the 5.

I looked at it with a magnifying glass and it definately looked exactly like a mantis. Could be a pod i guess, next time i do a water change ill dump the lr in a high 1.35 mix and coax him out and try to gt a good pick.

Mantis' are pretty hardy- as long as you water change frequently and don't let ammonia, nitrates, and nitrates get too high I think they should be fine.

Well if i get him out againuing a water change im going to toss him in a cup because my I might use the 5 as a Yasha goby/Pistol pair tank and in my 12g there will be a N. Wennerae. Im hooked on SW already and am now considering buying the Red Sea MAX nano as well lol. If I do get him out again what can i drop in the cup that he can feed on being only about 1/4 inch long?
