Just found a gorilla crab...

Just found out today that I have had a gorilla crab for at least the past year. Question is, what types of reef problems can I blame on him, (i.e. why are they so bad, what do they do, exactly?)

It hides in a whole in a rock that is covered with what my lfs guy affectionately referred to as pen15 polyps. Like I said, I have never seen it before, so I don't think it leaves the rock much.

Cute, little guy, maybe I can make a little refugium to keep him in...

it looks like you can't blame him for anything.
just leave him in there.
generally gorilla crabs attack other crabs/hermits.

It'll eat your snails and hermits and as it gets larger will also eat your sleeping fish. Best to trap it and toss it in the sump. Bait a tall, smooth sided glass with a piece of raw seafood and tilt it against the glass where it hides. Crab will climb in during the night but won't be able to crawl back out.
