I have a 95 gallon tank that had nothing in it. I was not sure what I wanted to do with it, so but a few live rocks in it and let it circulate with water for a month or so.
On Saturday I decided to purchase an Long Tenticle Anemone from my LPS. The anemone was in a tank all by himself, and was not looking that great in my opinion, although he was not bleached.
I took him home, put him in the tank. Within 1 hour he attached to the top of a large rock. It had a 6 inch cavity in the center of the rock and it planted its foot in it, making it impossible to ever move unless it wanted to.
I have now read on this forum, that LTA's perfer to plant its foot in sand, or the glass.
Well, mine move to the sand bed or stay put? Is there a way to coax it out, as it probably does not know the sand is even there.
Its mouth has been opened since I received him, so I am a little worried about him, however his tenticles are extended and he grabs a few pieces of tiny shrimp that I try and feed him.
My goal is to put 2 clowns in the tank at the end of January, as I want to have him in top notch condition before introducing fish.
Any recommendations to nurse him back to health would be appreciated.
By the way, I have 2 40w four foot bulbs. One actinic, one daylight bulb. I also have a 150w MH, 10,000k pendant that I run for 6 hours for him each day. 20 gallon sump and protein skimmer.
