It is greenish with bright green dots at the end of each bubble. The foot is deep red. I literally went, "Whoa!" when I saw it at the lfs. The price was right at $34.99, but... it was tightly attached and would not let go, no way, no how, to a rock which had a pretty large coral on the other side. Bummer! Fortunately, the lfs was having a 50% sale on all corals and they gave me another 15% off the coral so I wound up getting a gorgeous anemone and a cool coral which I have never seen before for under $50.

They had the coral listed as a sand brain. It is reddish/brown with a light green edge all the way around. The tissue is very flat against the rock and it has 3 mouths. There is a small area of tissue loss on one edge but I think that part had been under the sand. Its' not bad and I'm hoping it will heal itself. It's about 5" across. It's really kind unusual looking. I'm just hoping mr. anemone decides to look for happier hunting grounds soon. I have him close to other rocks, just touching.

He was pretty stressed from me trying to gently pry him off the rock. I also held him in some powerhead flow hoping he'd loosen up. He pulled way in and had his mouth open but nothing was coming out. I acclimated him and put him in the tank with the lights down low. He's now starting to bubble up a little and his mouth is closing again.

Hopefully by tomorrow he will have placed himself in some desirable spot in the tank (yeah, right) and open up in his full glory. When he does I'll post some pics.

I wouldn't try to remove him from the rock he is on. He will move when and where he wants to. Sounds like a really nice BTA. Can't wait to see pics. It may take some time for him to adjust to his new home. Good luck with your new BTA.

When you want an anemone to stay in one place it never will and when you want it to move it gets really stubborn and stays put. :D
At least that's my whole two weeks worth of experience.

Thanks - I didn't bother him and he's moved up on the back glass right on top of some rocks this a.m. He's all bubbled up and looking purty. I'm doubt he'll stay there too long because it's very shaded. I'm having to keep track of several anemones right now because all three of my originals, 2 tans and one rose, have split in the past couple of weeks. So now I have 4 tans and 3 tiny roses. All but one of the tans has settled in exactly where I want them to be - the other one I can't find at this point. The roses are scattered around the same large rock , two are really small and are trying to form up again. the larger one seems to be healed up and doing fine (split 2 days ago). So far no corals have been stung in the wanderings of the btas. :)
