Just got my tank!

are you getting it through the group buy on the SCMAS thread or just ordering it yourself? There is a guy in SD that breeds them and has a good rep

The blurriness in the original composition is caused by three factors.

1) Light movement over a long exposure period. The movement of the surface water causes the rays of light to walk across the subject which can blur the image due to the long exposure.

2) Focus. To get the images to overlay well I had to use the same focal point for each exposure so the main scene wouldn't change in focus from exposure to exposure. Running at f3 or 4 the depth of field is so shallow that a difference in depth of just a few inches will cause one subject to be in focus and another to not be. Not all of the corals were the same distance from the camera.

3) Sh!tty tripod. I used my little tripod that has skinny thin legs. Even with teh tripod the camera was not perfectly still during the long periods of time the shutter was open.

The non artsy one would look better if I had turned off the return pump, powerhead, and used a better tripod. And made an attempt to position the subjects on the same focal plane.

When I'm incredibly tired I tend to express myself more metaphoricaly.

I think I'm going to take all my fish out and drug the hell out of them for 4 weeks and then return them to the display after it has run fishless for a month. There has got to be something that is infecting my fish. I suspect Brookynella. I doubt I speeled that corectllee.

I bought a 20 gallon all glass aquarium today.

Submersible Heater?

Submersible Heater?

Josh,

I see you have your Jager heaters fully submersed and installed sideways in your QT tanks!

I've read on some of the sites that these heaters are fully submersible, but in the box of the Jager that I bought there are instructions specifically bringing attention to the "Water Line" noted at the top of the heater and to not submerse it above this line.

Are your Jagers a different series or are you about to electrocute yourself?

Let me know, AC power and water make me nervous. :worried:

I asked the same thing when I first started using these heaters. Funny.

That is the minimum water line. They just don't communicate that very well. I even called them and asked.

They are submersible heaters. The dryest you can run them is with water at that line. If the water line is any lower they can burn up.

I'm going to lower the sg in the clown QT tank to the hypo level.

I'm going to work on catching more fish today whyen the sun comes up.

Josh

sounds like you are having a blast... I told you once it was up and running hte tank would take care of it self... I think I could sale ice to an eskimo ;-)

:) Yeah, it's a piece of cake. It's the cheapest and least time consuming hobby I've ever had!

I caught two more fishies today and all I need to catch now are my six-line wrasse and one pajama cardinal. All of the guys in QT1 are getting along great and eating well. The ocellaris in QT2 has lost his spots while in hypo and seems to be acting like a normal clown now.

I just need to catch those other 2 fish so I can get this ball rolling on running the tank fallow and treating the fish with meds.

WarDaddy, thanks for the party tonight, it was fun. See you tomorrow at the coral purchasing event. Please help me out tomorrow, if I spend more than $40, take my wallet away from me. I have no self control when I'm at Will's place.

Josh

No Way! The more you spend the more I can get from you when it grows bigger.....man that just sounds wrong! Just watched Wedding Crashers and laughed my @$$ off (wife even found it funny)....see you boyz tomorrow....bring lotsa cash

5 down 1 to go.

I caught the wrasse by simply taking his home out of the tank. My wife had the idea. I was showing her the wrasses home in the middle of the night and she said, "why not just remove the rock". And I thought, I knew there was a reason I married her.

She held the flashlight and I removed the rock from the tank. I planned on putting the rock on my saltwater tub until the wrasse swam out. While I was carrying the rock over to the salt water tub I felt something fall on my arm and then onto the floor. I told my wife that something broke off the rock. I continued to place the rock in the tub and she searched the kitchen floor with her flashlight. She spotted the wrasse, flipping around on the floor. I scooped him off the floor and into my quarantine tank. His acclimation must have been rough. Going from 81F water to 77F water, and going from 1.026sg water to 1.017sg water. He is doing well though and he ate this morning.

Now to catch that pesky cardinal. Starvation should work. He likes to eat. He just has a hard time finding the entrance to the trap. He likes to swim into it at full speed trying to get the food. He does this to all the sides except the entrance.

I just got word from my wife that she trapped my last fish!!

I can't wait to get home and hug her.

Treatment can begin now.
