Just got my tank!

Yeah, everything is great. I've got all my fish in quarantine, but I do'nt mind. My corals are doing great, and when it's time to put my fish back in I will have peace of mind that they are all healthy.

Cheers

Thanks. It is coming along.

I can't wait for hypo to be over so I can return my mixing vat to a normal salinity and then do a water change in my display. It's been almost a month since my last water change in the display.

Friday night I added an anemone to my tank.

I know people say anemones should only be added to well established tanks but I did not want to wait any longer. The LFS had an anemone that I had been eyeing for several months. Friday my friend mmoore0803 picked it up for me, and we plopped her in my tank that night.

She's doing well and happily eats silver sides. She is still exploring the tank. Since my fish are all in QT and I don't have many corals I am happy to let her explore the entire tank. I want her to be happy with her final resting spot, wherever it may be.

As for my fish, they will be starting their third week in quarantine soon. All have been treated with Formalin for Brooklynella. My black ocellaris is also being treated with Copper for Ich and velvet. And all of my quarantine tanks are now being fed metronazidole and praziquantel for internal parasites for the next 4 weeks. Aside from the medicated food making the tanks dirty everythig is well. Copper treatment in the clown tank ends next Monday 3/27 and then the only med all the fish will be on is the food for the internal parasites. I may combine them all into one quarantine tank at that time so they can all meet each other. Then I only have one tank to manage. Then a few weeks of unmedicated observation, and then everyone gets to go into the display tank.

The time passes slowly.

I'll update my website again later this week, (hopefully).

Cheers
Josh

Has the anemone settled on a resting place yet? Where are the pix man?

Thanks again for bringing me my fish....the blenny and shrimps are doing great....or they were this morning when I left for work.

The anemone has not settled yet. She has laid down under the rocks. She seems to like laying rather than standing. SHe ate another silverside today.

I am saddened, frustrated and angry tonight.

I just took my filter sock out of the washing machine and found my green goby in it.

I killed my own fish with an hour long hot bleach bath. I'm frustrated because I thought he was dead. I hadn't seen him in weeks. I'm also frustrated because this means that for the last 3 weeks my tank has NOT been running fallow. So now I have to restart my quarantine counter.

I'm mainly just sad. Imagine finding out a loved one you thought was dead is still alive. If only I would have looked in the filter sock before throwing it in the wash. I'm mad at myself.

The sock had only been on one day. I was stirring my sand to get the gunk into the overflow box. The fish must have gone with it.

god dammnit.

If I would have looked in the sock, I could have nabbed him and put him in the QT tank with his other 6 family members.

It's sad when a fish dies, but its worse when you find out you did it.

It's okay, you didn't do it on purpose.

You had no idea if he was still alive or not in the sock.
Chances are he was pummeled by all the water falling on him, and there's little to nothing you could do about that.

Sorry for your loss.
:)

poor lil guy.......he may have been dead and just finally made his way into the overflow and sock....3 lost weeks....ah well.....so hows the palythoa?

Thanks guys.

He was alive before I found him. I didn't find a 3 week old skeleton or rotting corpse. I found a fat colorful larger green goby.

He was either living in the overflow box or living in the tank, either way, he didn't go up into the Durso until last night when I started stirring the sand, the sock had just been put on yesterday morning. He had only been there a hour or so max.

The sock is long and pretty calm at the bottom. Most fish can live in the sock for awhile. I just didn't think to look.

The first week after he disappeared I was checking the sock constantly. I suppose I should always check.

The palythoa is doing well. All of its polyps are out. It's ugly as hell. p00p brown polyps. I may play softball with it if it doesn't get any prettier soon.

Cheers

Well, it's about time.

BTW, nice anemone. It looked very healthy and fun to feed.

Your tank is looking sharp!

:hmm5:

So much for running the tank fallow, I guess.

Sounds like Josh is a gambler, like Kenny Rogers :bum:

I can't say I could wait either, since I'm so impatient.

Nice pictures, the fishies look happy.

Clown down, we have a clown down

Clown down, we have a clown down

Clown #1 died today.
It was gasping for air last two days and not eating. I saw the stringy poop indicitive of Worms and treated it with PraziPro starting yesterday, but it didn't help. It hit the sand this afternoon and stopped swimming ;(

The other clown and tang are both eating well and are quite active.

I put 55 pounds of Tonga rock in my 32 gallon on Sunday and got most of my equipment up and running. There are numerous caves and hiding spots for future fish and the rock has a ton of purple coraline algae on it.

The UPS guy has been busy with MarineDepot boxes lately. ;)
My 150W light looks great and has some really cool Lunar lights, too.

I also bought a Fluval (which i was hesistant on), but my stand has no room for a conventional sump. I have to say, it absolutely kicks *** at keeping the tank clean. My water is crystal.

I need to add the the surface skimmer to reduce/remove the micro-bubbles being caused by the AquaC Remora, but the skimmer is doing a really nice job, as well.

I can't wait to add more stuff to the tank.

BTW-Sorry for hi-jacking your thread Josh. :)
