Guys... I received 4 lyretail anthias this past Tuesday. I am feeding my fish some San Fran Omega 3 Brine Shrimp. All of my fish eat it but my anthias. The anthias will eat it and spit it out. I feed twice a day. At first the food floated past them and they didn't even take notice to it. Now they're at least sampling the food. I also drop some Formula One pellets in the tank which become food for my star fish. What can I feed my anthias? What are you feeding yours as far as frozen food? I don't want them to lose their color and fat supply.

Try offering different sizes/brands of Mysis. Sometimes these fish we keep are amazingly high-maintenance... I thought women were bad enough - geez!

My anthias will eat Rod's food, and I the females (mine are pretty small) take Nutramar OVA as well.

The will also take the NLS Thera A Sinking Pellets (Smallest Size). It took them a little bit to get onto the pellets. Once one of them tried it though, the others followed suit quickly.

I think mysis shrimp would be a good staple food for your anthias. Depending on how big your fish are you can try hikari brand which is on the smaller size, or PE mysis which is larger. Also I find that nothing can resist Nutramar Ova. All my fish go bonkers for that.

Get some raw scallop or shrimp from the grocery store. FINELY mince it. Throw it in in front of a powerhead so it goes flying quickly through the water column.

my male lyretale goes nuts over just about anything frozen while my female lyretails are more picky but will readily eat small mysis, brine, and their favorite Prime Reef. If all 4 of your lyretails are female, youre going to enjoy watching one of them morph into a male.

I have a female and she eats mysis, cyclopes, plankton and even flakes. Also the pods in my tank. Do you have any agressive fish that may have made them shy from eaten?

+1 Anthias are typically found in schoals along a structure with strong current . So food in high flow area should trigger a response.

Perhaps I will leave my tunze on during feeding. I just got my anthias along with my other fish so I have no bullies in my tank. Went out tonight and bought some PE mysis, and some hikari brine and the Spirulina Brine Shrimp. I saw more eating tonight. Also I have all females.

Most lyretails will not turn down mysis. Most anthias tend to hide for a few days before they become brave and hungry.
