Just got this!

Hello all! I just purchased this (platyaga?) last weekend. I was wondering what are the best conditions for it o survive and thrive. I have a 75 gallon tank with a 4 bulb t5 HO. Any oter questions feel free to ask. Here's a pic of it.

i keep mine middle to bottom, you can spot feed them as well if you want, either turn the pumps off during the day and lay the food on top, i feed mine mysis, brine, cyclops, coral frenzy, or wait til the lights are out and you see it's feeder tentacles and just squirt the food at it. low to medium flow should be fine.

i have a big green platy that was my second coral.

he's been forgiving and flexible. made it through a good amount of n00b mistakes, and has generally been doing quite well.

keep an eye on your alkalinity and calcium. as far as light goes, they are pretty forgiving if given proper acclimation. mine is front and center and half way up under my vegas, and has appeared happy with it.

i don't feed mine much. whatever it gets, it gets. and make sure you're got it positioned properly for the mesenterial filaments. mine has the ability to throw off very long ones, 6 inches+, and they pack a wallop for nearby corals. before i repositioned them he would occasionally lock sweepers with my frowspawn. not enough to really damage each other, but they would stick one or two filaments together for a zap-fest.

Oh wow thank you! I might take mine off the tile and put him on a rock of his own and place him by himself. I looked at mine the other day and saw some feeding tenticle out so tonight i am going o try to feed him lol. Another question, I have some acans that arent doing the best. what do you think I should do? I have them on the same rack as the platy so im thinking he either might be stinging them, to high of flow or too high of light. I just got them about a week ago and it looks like they are starting to recede in even more so now im kind of freaking out lol. Any tips? The rack is about 10-12 inches from a 4 bulb t5 and I am thinking about moving them to the sand bed also but am not sure. What do you guys think?

My first suspect when lps is looking glum is always alkalinity and pH. Swinging alk can play all kinds of havoc. So I might start there.

I'm not familiar with your light setup, so I can't comment on that.

Also make sure your salinity is stable and in the correct range. Auto top off helped me immensely with this.

Aggression could also play a role, but am I right in saying the one on the sandbed away from everyone else is doing the same thing?
