Is my Crocea healthy based off the two pics?

in the second pic it looks like its reaching for light a bit, are these in ur tek t5 tank?

Yes. Two of my bulbs are pure actinics which give off horrible PAR. Maybe thats why?

if you look closely at the first pic you can see what looks like the start of bleaching ( loss of zooxanthellae algae on the mantle ). look at the off white markings ( checking ) on the raised part of the mantle. the clam relies on this zoox algae to survive and if he keeps loosing it he will slowly starve to death.

i'm not familiar with a 55 long (55 is usually 48" x 13" x 20" ), could you post the dimensions of the tank as well as the length of you bulbs?

two of your bulbs are actinic, what k are the others?

for now i would move the clam up onto the rocks to get him closer to the lights. if you aren't dosing with phytoplankton now would be a good time to start. supplemental feeding cannot replace good strong lighting but in this case the extra nourishment could really help the clam recover. you should also consider swapping some bulbs for lower k bulbs that will provide more PAR.

The demensions are the ones you guessed so my tank is only 20 inches deep but I do have about a 3.5 inch sandbed.

Two of my bulbs are pure actinic while the other two is a 6500 K bulb and a 4750K bulb. So I do get some really good par as well.

I moved up the Crocea to higher spot on the rocks and it looks different. I will try and get a picture. I am also getting some phytoplankton this Saturday and will start feeding. Thanks for the help.

I decided to stop helping you cuz you're a gators fan :D:D:D

Your only hurting the clam, not me. ;)

it looks like hyperextension of the mantle, notice how it is reaching upwards? this is a sign that it is not receiving the light it needs. Try placing him higher up in your tank closer to the daylight bulbs.

Well I am happy to say its not extending for anymore for light. I put it very high in the tank and it looks normal. Pictures will be up in a little bit.

I think the reason why it was searching for more light under my T5s is because of the pure actinics. From what I have heard, those give off HORRIBLE PAR. I am sure once I swap those out, I will get much better PAR overall in my tank thus making my corals/anmones/clams happier.

I jinxed myself. My Crocea now has that appearance where it seems like it needs more light. I don't understand. Its about 5 inches under my T5s and is at the very top of the surface. There is no way where it's not getting enough light. Are you sure nothing else is wrong with it? Are you sure its not PM?

either the flow or lack of light

Mody likely the flow. Its soaking in the T5 light. The bulbs are about 4-5 months old. I will give it some time to adjust and will update you guys.
