Just moved and tank is not normal

So I just moved and upgraded from a 40 to 65 with all new sump and sand.

I pretty much rushed the move and got everything done in about 7 hours. Didn't have to drive but 30M, so distance was not a factor.

Used all the same lighting, rock, and some sand from the old tank. Its been up and running for 2 weeks now and its still a bit cloudy. My snails wont stay alive and my sand starfish just kicked the bucket :(. Fish are all good, lost most of my hard corals and my softies havn't quite opened up all the way. Most of my mushrooms are all good and my candycane is doing awesome.

Tested the water, levels are good. Did a small water change this weekend.
Not sure what is going on, but I'm assuming I just shocked the crap out of everything and its just a waiting game at this point.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Reefers.

it's possible, since you used mostly new sand, that your biological filtration hasn't caught up yet which can cause problems with sensitive inverts. do you have any ammonia reading at all?

even moving corals around in an existing tank can tick them off big time. i would say the corals you lost probably didn't recover simply from the stress.

as for the tank being cloudy, did you rinse the new sand well?

I used Figi live sand. No rinsing is required since it has all the biological stuff in it. I forgot the reading for Ammonia, but I should probably check it again when I get home.

Thanks.

I think most of those live sand products are almost useless. I had more luck with Dr Tims or Bio Spira bacteria.

You upgraded, did you add more fish, add more rock, what is different in the new sump vs the old, how long were the rocks out of water?

I think Nina51 is spot on about about the sand, think of how much surface area of mature filtration you changed.

True on the sand. Same fish, same rock except for like 4 pieces that I dried out for months that I used for base. New sump is just bigger. Rocks were never out of the water, I kept everything in buckets and tubs.

The rocks you added probably contributed to your issues too. If a rock was ever in a tank or the ocean it needs to be properly cured before being placed in a live aquarium. When you dried the rock, the organisms and algae on it died, they are now decaying and adding nutrients to your tank
