well i just purchased a 6 gal tank plus kit i guess you could call it. it comes with t5 lighting as well. I was just looking for some input on what you think i should/could put in there?? this is my first tank i really have no idea, but my roomate has a 24 AP so i learn some from him.

yea i wont let him put a yellow tang in there or anything!!!! with 12 watts of t5 lighting over that small of a tank you could do a pretty cool sps tank. You could put a smaller clam in there but it would be a little touchy with your calcium levels and also having to dose phytoplankton. To begin with i would start with some zoo's and ricordia once you get the hang of the whole salt water thing i would go with some montipora and some lps

not to hijack, but clown...nice car in the avatar.

looks like this one:

Sweet car! (went to a Ferrari Jet event a few weeks ago... A-Maz-Ing!)

Now to the question...I recommend mushrooms (corallimorphs, ricordea, etc), zoanthids, or euphyllia (hammer, torch, frogspawn) if you go with the last ones, make sure they dont touch anything else. On second thought, they may not be a good choice for a small aquarium. What about some LPS? Plate corals are neat too, pretty easy to care for. Make sure your params are stable before adding anything. And please, no fish! Good luck! :)

Sugar- thanks for the ideas i appreicate it! i will consider all of the ideas. i would love to have a clam in there but will it be to big?? plus why could you not put any fish in there. not even a yellow goby or something small?? can you put some inverts in there??

Some stores near me sell little baby clams, about 1"-2". They would be kind of cool, I'm thinking about grabbing one but am not really convinced they will love my 80W PC's.

I don't think they grow too too fast either, you'll have a while to deal with that issue I think.

yea a small clam would be cool i just dont know of any fish stores around here that have small ones. but i might be able to find small ones in denver. can you believe it i live it colorado springs right now and there are only 4 fish stores lol you might no how big colorado springs is but its pretty big. it kills me. ill look around though thanks. what about the fish question??? why no fish in a 6 gal? i mean any small ones?

They need space to swim. I have a yellow watchman in my 24 gal, and at night he swims all over the tank. I just dont think you could have enough rock for them to be happy. I wouldnt suggest a fish in anything smaller than a 10 gal.

And yeah, Enzos are SWEET!

ok sorry im new to this so i have no idea....

No worries

basically smaller clams cannot sustain themselves on light along because their mantles are too small

therefore they need to be fed on a daily basis with phytoplankton

this basically entails setting them in a shallow bowl wth phyto so that they can consume a greater portion of it and you dont have to fill your entire tank with the food

not an easy feat
