just set up a tank

I just started a 28 gal salt water tank, and I was planning on starting out with a clown fish or 2 in a few weeks and was wondering if there was a real reason to get 2 at first or if 1 would be ok. I have been doing fresh water for a few years so I know that tetras and stuff like that should be kept in groups and I wasn't sure if it was the same with clown fish.

i'm stll in the process of cycling my tank....but i would think 2 baby's are the way to go they will pair up since clowns are born with out a sex, they form into what ever sex is needed....so if you get 2 now they will most likely pair up and you wont have issues trying to introduce one in the future....

Well I'm not a huge fan of clowns but they are a lot higher on the list of fish I like than damsels and I am looking to get it started with getting it ready for other fish. I was planning on getting one or 2 clowns at first and that was it. If I get 1 clown I'm going to get the black and white (the name got away from me) or 2 brown saddle clowns.

I have one clown (originally had two, but one did not acclimate). My clown is my favorite fish. He has a great personality. When I'm cleaning the tank or changing my aquascape, he nips at my hands. It's almost like he's playing. Don't knock it til you try it. You may find you really like them. I also have a damsel that I'm very attached to. I used him to cycle my tank (don't yell at me, I didn't know any better then). He's the least aggressive of all of my fish. In fact, he tends to get picked on the most. I know lots of people have terrible stories about damsels, but I wouldn't think of getting rid of mine.

I kinda like how some damsels look but I get realy attached to my fish, so after a few weeks I won't want to take him back to the fish store. I heard about damsels being agressive fish, even at the fish store yesterday 2 customers spoke up and said they never should have used them to cycle their tank so I realy don't want to take any chances.

Having one clownfish is fine. If you want to get 2 different types,or indroduce them at 2 different times then you can run into trouble. I heard it is better to add damsels into the tank at the end so they won't be so teritorial(SP).Did I answer your question right?
