Just the Tip! 36x24x12 45g Reef

I moved some corals around today, and glued a lot of the random zoanthid frags I had floating around down to the top flat rock that I have deemed to be "Zoa rock"

Also, the Cynaria and scleronepthya that I had moved into the nano tank, I moved back. The Cynaria didnt have space to fully expand when the dendros and tubastreas were out all the way, and I don't think the scleronepthya had enough food in there to sustain itself. It went downhill pretty quickly. We will see how they recover in this tank.

Note to myself: I changed the reactor media yesterday and put half carbon and half phosphate remover.

Yeah I only target feed at night to my scoly for that exact reason fish would love to rip the food out of his mouth if they had the chance

Haha I know how that goes. The leopard wrasse is the most bold in my tank, but the chromis pair really does not care about my corals well-being

Update:
Got a new skimmer yesterday. Swapped out my Bubble Magus 3.5 for an E-shops S-150. Plugged it in last night and Im already getting some nice foam in the collection cup. I think I will end up making it a little drier skimmate, but for now I want to see what this thing can do.

Also, the Red Gorgonian has been suffering lately. Despite a lot of feedings (which I have moved from 5-6 days a week down to 2-3 because of algae issues) he is losing a lot of tissue and I think he may be a goner. Really sad about this because he was doing very well for a long time, but the leopard wrasse is almost constantly picking at it and keeping it closed so I can't feed him enough. For now he is in the 9 gallon and the yellow gorgonian will be the new featured piece on Sungorgian Island

How do you maintain your sand bed? Mine looks like crap, unless I siphon it before taking pictures, then it looks like yours, LOL! It drives me insane!!!!!!

I love your tank. So simple and well laid out. Love the differences in color and textures.

Holy crap how this tank has come along its looking really good

Thank you! I appreciate it.

Thanks bud! I use a turkey baster once a week or so, and in the mean time, a lot of flow, the watchman gobies, conch, hermits, and cucumbers take care of the rest.

The combination of colors in your tank are off the chart, great working pulling it all together and picking what goes where, specially the rock work

This is a 40gal right?

yeah, 45g. probably closer to 37 gallons of water though in the display after rock, sand and corals displacement

Thank you, the rock work I will take credit for, but I have to shout out my fantastic girlfriend for helping me decide where things go. She really has an eye for it. I just try to keep it happy where she thinks it would look nice. haha

why are you changing skimmer? i had that one on my list to possibly get for a 30g build. how did it work for ya?

well you can buy mine ;)

If my tank was a LITTLE smaller, and I fed a LITTLE less this skimmer would be perfect, but I am a big fan of over skimming by double, and I wasn't quite there with the bubble magus which is rated up to about 80 gallons. For a 30 I think it would do wonderfully
